    Abstract: The invention concerns a motor vehicle with an upper pivot fitting for a safety belt system, the pivot fitting being mounted on a vehicle body part, in particular the vehicle's B- or C-column, consisting of an inner skin and an outer skin. The pivot fitting is secured by means of a load-transmitting connection on the vehicle body part provided with a column lining. The object of the invention is to reduce injury to the person wearing the safety belt, in the event of a side impact. To that end, according to the invention, the pivot fitting is secured on a separate carrier plate (22) which is inserted in the vehicle body part (10) and is disposed so as to be displaceable with respect to the vehicle body part (10) over the space existing as a cushioning path between the inner skin (12) and the outer skin (11) of the vehicle body part (10), the shape of the column lining (14) matching the displacement movement of the pivot fitting.
