To provide a rope which is light in weight and flexible per se, resistant to invasion of sand granules and the like into strands thereof, and less prone to suffer fiber breakage caused by the sand granules nor to suffer per se inadvertent breakage under a small tensile load. The rope includes: a core material formed by paralleling, twisting or braiding a plurality of yarns; and a filter material that covers a periphery of the core material and is comprised of a tubular woven fabric formed by weaving warp yarns and weft yarns.

A rubber-steel cord composite is provided having nonlinear physical properties even in a rubber characterized by incompressive properties after vulcanization, and hence the rubber-steel cord composite can show low rigidity and flexible properties in a low-strain region and, on the other hand, can show high rigidity in a high-strain region. The rubber-steel cord composite is provided by bundling steel linear objects 1 subjected to spiral shape forming at substantially identical pitches in an approximately identical phase without twisting, the steel cord being embedded in rubber.
Abstract:
A new form of construction for synthetic cables used for the anchoring of floating platforms in offshore oil production is described. A desirable requisite for this application is that the durability of the cable is not affected by deterioration of its strong core by virtue of the aggressive mechanical action of particles of the sea bed which might penetrate the cable and reach its core. For this purpose a layer (3) to protect the core (1) comprising a strip of polymer material placed in helical fashion which permits the passage of water and prevents the passage of particles of the sea bed towards the core (1) is placed between the cable core (1) and its outer braided protective layer (2).

Das Kletterseil, bestehend aus einer Kerneinlage (1) mit einem die Kerneinlage umgebenden Mantel (8), weist einen isolierten elektrischen Leiter (2) auf, der auf die Litzen (6) der Kerneinlage schraubenförmig aufgewickelt ist. Dadurch wird eine gegen Beschädigung gesicherte Signalverbindung für die durch das Kletterseil verbundenen Personen geschaffen, die ein sehr geringes zusätzliches Gewicht besitzt und die auch für andere Zwecke verwendbar ist.

An exemplary elongated elevator load bearing member includes a plurality of tension elements that extend along a length of the load bearing member. A plurality of weave fibers transverse to the tension elements are woven with the tension elements such that the weave fibers maintain a desired spacing and alignment of the tension elements relative to each other. The weave fibers at least partially cover the tension elements. The weave fibers are exposed and establish an exterior, traction surface of the load bearing member.

A cable contains filaments containing carbon, surrounded by a sizing. The filaments surrounded by the sizing are covered by a matrix which is composed of a material containing at least one elastomer and/or at least one thermoplastic elastomer. The cable can be used, in particular for pulling a load, for example in a goods lift.
