Abstract:
Abstract:
A tire for a vehicle wheel includes at least one metallic reinforcing cord comprising a single strand of elementary filaments preformed by sinusoidal waving and wound together. The number of filaments is greater than or equal to 3 and less than or equal to 8. A diameter of each filament is greater than or equal to 0.12 mm and less than or equal to 0.35 mm. A linear density of the at least one reinforcing cord is greater than or equal to 0.18 g/m and less than or equal to 4.0 g/m. A value of a breaking-stress integral of the at least one reinforcing cord is greater than or equal to 5,000 J/m3. In a two-wheeled vehicle, the at least one reinforcing cord in a tire for front-mounting may be distributed with a variable density while, in a tire for rear-mounting, the density may be constant.

Abstract:
A pneumatic tire comprises a cord-reinforced layer such as carcass, belt, bead reinforcing layer which is made of metallic cords, each metallic cord is made up of six to twelve metallic filaments whose diameter is in a range of from 0.15 to 0.45 mm, the metallic filaments include waved filaments and unwaved filaments, each waved filament is two-dimensionally waved at a wave pitch and wave height before twisted, the wave pitch is in a range of from 5.0 to 35.0 times the diameter of the filament, and the wave height is in a range of from 0.2 to 4.0 times the diameter of the filament, and the metallic filaments are twisted together into the cord at a twist pitch of from 10 to 40 mm so that the two-dimensionally waved filaments are each subjected to a certain rotation around its axial.
Abstract:
A vehicle wheel tyre includes a carcass, a tread, a pair of side walls ending with beads for mounting the tyre on a rim, a belt structure, and at least one breaker layer. The belt structure includes first, second, and third belts strips. The first and second belt strips each include metal cords parallel with respect to each other. The first metal cords are crossed with respect to the second metal cords. The third belt strip is in a radially external position with respect to the first and second belt strips. The at least one breaker layer includes reinforcing cords that are inclined with respect to the equatorial plane and is in a radially external position with respect to the belt structure. At least one reinforcing cord of the at least one breaker layer includes at least one metal wire deformed by a substantially sinusoidal deformation lying in a plane.
Abstract:
Tyre for motor vehicles, provided with a belt structure (3) interposed circumferentially between the carcass (2) and the tread band (4), and comprising at least one pair of belt plies (5,7) radially superimposed on each other and extending axially substantially by the same amount as said tread band. Each ply (5,7) has a plurality of cords (6,8) orientated obliquely with respect to the equatorial plane of the tyre and in opposite directions, and a reinforcing layer (10) radially external to said at least one pair of belt plies (5,7), having reinforcing elements (11) which are substantially parallel to each other and parallel to the equatorial plane. The reinforcing elements (11) of the 0null layer comprise single metal wires preformed according to a given preforming ratio, which have a high elastic modulus and a considerable elongation at low stresses.
Abstract:
A band layer in which a band cord is wound around in a spiral manner along a circumferential direction of the tire is provided. The band cord comprises total nine metallic wires including at least five shaped wires, and is formed by twining two to four wire bundles composed of a plurality of said metallic wires twined wile twisting each wire thereof. Each shaped wire is formed in a two-dimensional shape with repeated peaks and troughs in a condition prior to the twisting. The metallic wires of each wire bundle are revolved around the center of the wire bundle while rotating on its own axis through the twining.
Abstract:
A metallic cord is composed of metallic filaments gathered together, the metallic filaments include at least one patterned filament which is, before gathered together, two-dimensionally waved so as to have a wave form defined by plural kinds of cycles different from each other in respect of the wave length and/or wave height. A pneumatic tire includes the metallic cords as its carcass cords.
Abstract:
A process for manufacturing a metal cord includes the steps of permanently deforming at least one wire using a substantially sinusoidal deformation lying in a plane and stranding the at least one wire together with one or more other wires by helicoidally double twisting the wires around a longitudinal axis of the metal cord. The metal cord may include at least two wires each with diameter greater than or equal to 0.10 mm and less than or equal to 0.50 mm. An associated metal cord includes at least two wires. One or more of the at least two wires is permanently deformed using a substantially sinusoidal deformation lying in a plane. The at least two wires are stranded together by helicoidally double twisting the at least two wires around a longitudinal axis of the metal cord.
