Abstract:
An apparatus for lengthening an extendible pipe comprised of first and second pipe portions having an interior includes a cylinder having an end wall and an open end connected to the first pipe portion. A piston is received in slidable and sealable engagement with the cylinder and is connected to the second pipe portion. The piston, cylinder and end wall define a chamber that is physically isolated from the interior of the pipe. Introduction of a control fluid into the chamber displaces the piston relative to the cylinder so as to lengthen the pipe. The apparatus above may be applied to a sprinkler head riser apparatus and buried as part of an in-ground sprinkler system.

Abstract:
The invention contemplates a working implement, for use with an excavating type machine, which semi-automatically brings a pipe section to a specified grade, slope, and line for emplacement in a line of pipe sections to be laid on the specified grade slope and line. The implement is rigidly mounted to the excavation machine whereby the position of the implement can be maintained within narrow tolerances while the pipe section is linearly inserted into a previously laid pipe section, and can be retained at the specified grade, slope, and line while fill material is emplaced and consolidated about and under the pipe, with sufficient density that the pipe can be released without the pipe moving outside normal tolerances of the specified grade, slope and line. In general, the invention contemplates the machine and implement automatically bringing the pipe section to such specified height or grade, thus bringing the pipe section into position and angular alignment with respect to the specified pipe line, automatically establishing and holding specified slope, and optionally cross-slope, of the pipe section. The pipe section is then linearly inserted into the previously laid pipe section by the operator manually activating the linear insertion actuator.
Abstract:
A tool (10) for joining plastic pipe and fittings that provides for a quarter turn rotation of a pipe fitting (14) while simultaneously pulling a free end of a longitudinally aligned pipe section (12) into the fitting. The tool includes an inner ring (10) that slips over a free end of a pipe section and is secured thereto by inwardly directed mounting screws, and an outer ring (72) coaxially circumposed about, and rotatably connected to, the inner ring. A detachable semicircular partial collar (90) fits snugly about the outer ring (72) and reversibly attaches to a pair of outwardly directed nibs (84) positioned at opposite sides of the outer ring (72) in a plane that bisects the pipe section. A handle (46) is pivotally mounted above a yoke (24) and chain (26) that encircle and grasp the fitting (14).
Abstract:
A duct stretcher that is used to conveniently bring the joining ends of a sheet metal air carrying duct system together so that the two ends can be joined and essentially sealed. The tool is configured such that the grip on the ends of the ducts is enhanced over that of a tool having a single pivot point.

Abstract:
A device for picking up, laying and installing pipes to provide underground ducts, comprising a supporting structure (11) provided with means for fixing to the working arm (12) of a work vehicle and with a prong (14) to be inserted within the pipe to be picked up.
Abstract:
Abstract:
An apparatus (10) for pulling a first pipe (11) into contact with a stationary second pipe (13) includes a frame (12) and a strut (42) pivotally mounted to the frame (12) about a first pivot axis (P2), the strut (42) having a first end (42A) and second end (42B). A pivot assembly (52) is pivotally mounted to the frame (12) about the first pivot axis (P2). A pair of wheels (56) is rotatably mounted to the pivot assembly (52) about a wheel axis. A force generating apparatus (32) is also mounted to the frame (12), the force generating apparatus (32) configured for pulling the first pipe (11) relative to the second pipe (13).
