    Abstract: 293,318. Pohl, E. July 2, 1937, [Convention date]. R÷ntgen - ray tubes.-The cathode and anticathode are mounted in yielding relation to each other and means are provided for imparting a swinging movement to the anticathode; so as to vary the point of emission of rays during use. As shown, the anticathode a is mounted on a corrugated tube b secured through a cylinder b to the envelope g. A rod c, to which an oscillating or circular movement may be imparted by hand or mechanically, is secured to the anticathode and passes through a guide d, which is perforated to allow the passage of cooling water. One side of the tube b may be made rigid by securing a rod f thereto. In a modification, the rod c is mounted eccentrically within the tube b. In other arrangements one or two tubes carrying cooling water connect the top of the anticathode with the envelope, and a rod connects the lower end therewith, movement of the anticathode being effected by the difference of expansion of the tubes and rod. Or the movement may be obtained by varying the pressure of the water supply.
