    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold which restrains seizure between the mold and a workpiece, and a method for manufacturing such a mold.
    SOLUTION: The first particles of 100-500 μm in diameter are projected at the projecting pressure of 0.20-0.35 MPa to the surface 1 of the mold to contact with the workpiece so as to form a first uneven area 2 having a depth H1. Then second particles smaller in diameter than the first particles are projected at the projecting pressure of 0.20-0.35 MPa to the surface 1 of the mold to contact with the workpiece, on which the first uneven area 2 has been formed, so as to form a second uneven area 3 having a depth H2. By this way, the first uneven area 2 and second uneven area 3 are formed on the surface of the mold by the first projecting step and second projecting step respectively. After that, the mold is nitrided by being exposed in the atmosphere of ammonia gas and gaseous nitrogen or in the atmosphere of gaseous nitrogen at the temperature of 300-460°C so as to form a nitrided layer 5 having the depth of 20-80 μm from the surface of the mold.
