Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the preservation of an extracted organ enabling the long-term preservation of an organ such as heart, kidney and cornea without using complicate operations comprising the dehydration and drying, and capable of fully exhibiting the result when transplanting and resuscitating the preserved organ. SOLUTION: The method for the preservation of an extracted organ comprises the extraction of an organ of a mammal, the perfusion and blood removal of the organ with a perfusate, and the preservation of the perfused and blood removed organ at 1-8°C in a water- and oil-insoluble inert medium preparatorily exposed to a high-concentration carbon dioxide gas while exposing the organ preferably intermittently with a high-concentration carbon dioxide gas.
