    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for filtration and separation which eliminates backwashing of and clogging of filter members used for separation and filtration of floating or suspended particles in filtration. SOLUTION: The filtration prevents the clogging of the filter members adjusted in shape of the filter members and in flow rate of a filtered air or liquid, and eliminates a backwashing step for the purpose of elimination of the backwashing of and clogging of the filter members in filtration. In particular, the filter members have rectangular, hexagonal, octagonal, and decagonal spindle shapes, have polygonal spindle frame bodies having an angle vertex partitioned at an interval of 25 mm to 100 mm, and having a width of 150 mm to 500 mm, a length of 300 to 1,500 mm, provided with flange portions for taking the air or liquid at both ends, and formed by winding filaments having a diameter of 0.003 to 0.05 mm around the frame body in parallel with each other into layers. The filtration method includes filtration of a liquid, wherein the filter members are positioned at an interval of 5 mm to 50 mm between filter membrane surfaces, and the liquid is made to flow into gaps between the filter membrane surfaces at a rate of 50 to 1,500 mm per second.
