Abstract: PURPOSE: A device for reading/writing smartcard having memory chip, and a data security method thereby are provided to stores data in a memory chip or prevent extracting data of the memory chip, if a connected smart card is not registered smart card. CONSTITUTION: An IC(Integrated Circuit) chip reader unit(235) deciphers a card identification key in an IC chip through an IC chip connection terminal(225). A memory chip reader/writer unit(240) deciphers data of memory chip(130) through memory chip connection terminal(230). If the deciphered card identification key accords with card identification key of a storage unit(260), a control unit(220) transmits data deciphered by the memory chip reader/writer unit to a computer by control of a computer connection unit(275).
