Abstract: According to the present invention, a protection functional yarn is prepared by immersing a mixed yarn (6), in which a cotton yarn (2) or another cotton yarn (2a) are mixed, in an assistant agent (8) obtained by mixing an agent for protecting roots and water. The protection functional yarn is either woven or knitted so as to form a greening cotton cloth that covers roots of a tree when the tree is transplanted. The greening cotton cloth is soft and elastic and thus makes a process of covering the roots of the tree easy when the tree is transplanted. The productivity of the greening cotton cloth is high because the greening cotton cloth is woven by a loom. Accordingly, the price of the greening cotton cloth is low due to mass production thereof.
