    Abstract: PURPOSE: A reducing method of HC exhaust material in cold start of a spark ignition engine is provided to reduce the exhaust amount of HC by re-burning a large amount of HC in a running mode of an engine without influence for engine torque. CONSTITUTION: For zero emission of noxious exhaust gas in cold start, exhaust gas is collected in a storage bag, using a dead sector including a bumper, a fender and a door for early 30sec after combustion explosion in a spark ignition engine. To shorten the collecting time of the exhaust gas, a rapid heated O2 type sensor is adopted to shorten the feedback control time. The collected exhaust gas is sucked and ignited through an intake manifold after a three-way catalyst is lighted up. The zero emission is performed for the early 30sec having the largest amount of exhaust gas in cold start. The spark ignition engine is run without bad effects for engine torque as the exhaust gas is re-burnt through a solenoid valve. The ozone formation potential of the exhaust gas is increased when a large amount of toluene and benzene is generated over 200ppm within 10sec after cold start.
