Abstract: PURPOSE: A method and system for encoding publications and electronic books on the Internet are provided to prevent an illegal utility through a hacking by preventing data of publications and electronic books from being copied and illegally being used. CONSTITUTION: A user connects to a server computer through the Internet(S1). A user identification is performed(S2). A data catalog of a work is transmitted to the user(S3). The user can search data and select whether a subscription to publications or electronic books(S4). It is asked whether there's a decoding program and a display program in a user computer(S5). The server computer transmits the decoding program and the display program to the user computer(S6). A part of the work selected is partially encoded(S7). Data partially encoded are transmitted to the user computer through all sorts of network(S8). In case that the data is received to the user computer(S9), the data encoded are decoded and outputted to a screen of the user computer(S10). It is asked whether a process is continued(S11).
