Abstract:
Metals are machinend in the presence of an aq. functional fluid contg. an extreme pressure additive by incorporating a water-soluble salt into (semi)synthetic fluid. The improvement is that a water- soluble salt of 3-mercaptopropionic acid disulphide is used. Pref. the water-soluble salt is an alkali or alkaline earth metal salt. The salt is formed with liq. NH3 or an organic nitrogenous base. The functional fluid is used during industrial operations such as the machining of metals. The additive is watersoluble and stable.
Abstract:
Recovery of an aprotic polar solvent from a saline aqueous solution of this solvent, by a process which consists in desalinating the said solution by electrodialysis and then distilling the desalinated solution. To avoid the precipitation of metal hydroxides during the electrodialysis, the brine is kept at an acidic pH.
