    Abstract: The device includes cathode assembly with a plate having slots lined with a metallic lining and forming a number of cathode cells each forming a segment of the display. A display panel overlies one face of the cathode plate and supports on its surface a number of patches of fluorescent material aligned with the slots so as to be selectively impinged by u.v. radiation emitted from the slots upon energisation of selected cells. An anode is disposed on the side of the cathode plate remote from the display panel and forms with the cathode palte a chamber in communication with the slots. The chamber contains gaseous material ionisable by an electric field applied between the anode and selected cells.

    Abstract: A device for the collection of electromagnetic radiation energy comprises a transparent outer tube (40), an inner, energy absorbing tube (43) defining an evacuated annular chamber (46), an inlet for introducing a fluid heat exchange medium, and an outlet (47) for recovering the heat exchange medium. The outer surface of the energy absorbing tube (43) is provided with grooves (44') extending over the whole circumference and the length of the tube, so as to be impinged by radiation passing through the outer tube (40) over a full arc of 360≦̸. Each groove which is formed from or coated with a material of low emissivity has the shape of a triangular corss-section whose interior angle is in the range 3≦̸-30≦̸.
