Abstract: The present invention is directed to a lug cap or closure (20) that is used in combination with a container (24) for indicating that the container has been opened so as to indicate loss of seal or tampering. The lug cap (20) includes an upper cap portion (34) and a depending tamper or pilfer band (22) each having a series of circumferentially spaced lugs (36, 38). The upper cap portion (34) and the pilfer band (22) are joined by a plurality of frangible bridges (48). The container finish includes combination camming/locking projections (30a, 30b, 30c) for locking the lugs (36, 38) into a locked position and for separating the pilfer band (22) from the upper cap portion (34) by a camming action when the container (24) is opened. The lug cap (20) may also include a secondary tamper indicating means such as a tamper indicating button (86) in the top of the lug cap (20).

Abstract: Alloy and cast alloy product ideally suited for use as a component in a vehicule frame or subframe, i.e., body-in-white, comprising an alloy consisting of about 2.00 to 5.00 wt.% magnesium, up to approximately 0.30 wt.% silicon, approximately 0.20 to 1.60 wt.% manganese, up to approximately 1.00 wt.% iron, and between about 0.10 to 0.30 wt.%, zirconium, the balance substantially aluminum and incidental elements and impurities. The aluminum/magnesium alloy is typically solidified into ingot derived working stock by continuous casting or semi-continuous casting into a shape suitable for remelt for casting, which shape is typically an ingot billet. Excellent mechanical properties are obtained from a cast product that is not subjected to high temperature heat treating operations subsequent to casting.

Abstract: Recovery of selectively constituted high purity aluminum chloride from the gaseous effluent of the chlorination of sodium contaminated alumina including the steps of purifying such gaseous effluent to provide essentially contaminant-free aluminum chloride in gaseous form in a gaseous carrier through selectively cooling the hot gaseous effluent to a temperature range well below the chlorination temperature but above the ambient condition condensation temperature of aluminum chloride yet sufficient to condense a selective portion of the condensable constituents therein including substantially all of the sodium aluminum chloride values therein, intermediate the steps of passing such gaseous effluent through filtration media to effect the separation of the condensed sodium aluminum chloride values and entrained solid and liquid particles therefrom and condensing high purity aluminum chloride values from the purified residual gaseous effluent to selectively constituted solid form at controlled temperatures.

Abstract: A container wall or end closure is provided which has a hollow upwardly convex embossment formed in it, and at least one radially extending score line in an outer portion of the embossment which will be ruptured to form a vent opening in the closure when force is applied against the center of the embossment. The container wall may further include an inclined wall formed therein around the periphery of the embossment and a thinned zone or band of material in such wall to facilitate rupture of the score in the embossment. A method of forming such a container closure is also provided.
