    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an advantage of increasing permissible spread in board warpage and/or improved current-carrying ability regarding a relatively simple construction for enabling an upper board to be on a lower board. SOLUTION: Upper and lower planar circuit boards are connected in spaced parallel relationship by a plurality of contacts each made of a conductive pin, an insulative collar, and a solder ball. The upper ends of the pins are inserted in plated through holes in the upper circuit board and soldered thereto by wave soldering or re-flow. The pins have shoulders to establish the penetration of the pins into the upper circuit board. The lower ends of the pins are bonded to conductive pads on the lower circuit board via the solder balls that are maintained in substantially spherical configuration by the insulative collars and accommodate variations in board co-planarity or pin length. Where the lower ends of the pins do not contact their corresponding conductive pads, the volume of solder in the solder balls allows reliable fillet solder joints to be formed.     Abstract: PURPOSE: To insert a bent connector terminal pin in a printed circuit board by bending the pin during stroking a jaw downward for cutting, holding and inserting the connector terminal pin. CONSTITUTION: A cutout wire is advanced only for the pin length, and the end connector terminal pin of the wire is fed to a jaw assembly formed with a cutting jaw 3 and an inserting jaw 2. The cutting jaw 3 is pushed to a closed position, the terminal pin is separated from the cutout wire and fastened with the cutting jaw 3 and the inserting jaw 2, and the cutting jaw 3 and the inserting jaw 2 are moved in longitudinal rows downward in the vertical direction. A bending shoe 4 is moved downward in the vertical direction faster than the jaws 2, 3 during stroking period of the jaws 2, 3 downward or slower during other stroking downward periods. In this way, after the connector terminal pin is bent by the bending shoe 4, it can be inserted in a hole 41 in a printed circuit board 40 with the cutting jaw 3 and the inserting jaw 2.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a novel connector pin for improving a disposition device for a connector pin mounting surface and further forming a printed wiring board mounting surface, in the case of a printed wiring board. CONSTITUTION: An upper part of a pin holder 30 is formed into a shape suitable to make contact with and to be held by a suction head of a standard pick-and- place device, the suction head picks up the pin holding holder in this way and disposes the holder for attachment on a printed wiring board 10 in a usual way. A line of uniformly space connector pins 15 surface-mounted on soldering parts of the printed wiring board is formed, a center line of a pin and a center line of another pin correspondingly agree precisely with an interval between holes of a female-type connector or holes of another printed wiring board, and there is no need for a header required for holding the pins for strict spacing.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure a free separation at a required position to improve conveniency in inventry management by inserting again a suceeding protrusion of preliminarily formed segment into a mold, then forming a front end unit of next segment into a circumferential part of the projection, and forming a continuous strip for receiving a pin. SOLUTION: In a mold 30 for injection molding plastic material, bisected cavity 32 forms a single segment at one cycle. After the separation of cavity 32, a motor-driven gear 44 indexes the position of formed segment, and a foregoing segment unit 33 is fitted into a left end cavity 34. An adjacent cavity 35 stores a rear end unit 26 of formerly formed segment, and fusion plastic is filled at a next formation cycle, then a front end unit of suceeding segment is superposedly formed so as to surround the rear end unit 26. By inserting a pin in a through hole 16 of connection part formed superposedly, forward and rearward single segments are connected firmly.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To greatly reduce the number of and a time for manual processes for electronic parts by mechanizing the manufacture, assembly and fitting of the electronic parts. CONSTITUTION: Plastic granulated powder 10 is fed from a hopper opening 12 to an injection cylinder 19 and heated in the cylinder 19, with a heating jacket 14 into a melted condition 13. The melted plastic is injected with a ram 15 and put into a mold 16. The mold 16 forms individual numbers of plastic parts 17 and webs 18, to be mutually bonded with separatable plastic flakes and bonds them with the separatable plastic flakes. The continuous strips of the parts 17 are rewound on a reel, after metal spring clips 25 are fitted thereinto. A supply reel 21' is fed into the insertion head 31 of a device fitted to a substrate 32, and a shunt 34 is fitted to a pin terminal 35 on the substrate 32.

    Abstract: Improved actuator apparatus and methodologies for manufacturing and using the same. In one exemplary embodiment, the actuator apparatus includes an SMA filament that: (1) minimizes size and increases stroke length via a serpentine-like routing of the SMA filament within the device itself; (2) reduces power consumption as a result of a relatively flat stroke force as a function of stroke displacement operating profile; (3) enables the actuator assembly to remain in a fully actuated state, at a consistent stroke force, for longer periods of time; and (4) is also fully reversible so as to be capable of use in both push-based and pull-based actuator applications.     Abstract: Apparatus and methods for filament crimping. In one embodiment, the apparatus comprises a body and a filament crimp element. The filament crimp element comprises a first set of cavities disposed at a spacing which creates a first set of features and a second set of cavities disposed at a spacing which creates a second set of features. The first and second set cavities are substantially opposite one another. The first set of features are adapted to be placed at least partially within the second set of cavities and the second set of features are adapted to be placed at least partially within the first set of cavities. Interlock features configured for cold welding are also included. Methods and apparatus for the manufacture of the device are also disclosed. In addition, methods for automated placement and manufacture of assemblies using the crimp elements are also disclosed.
