Abstract: The measuring method is carried out and the thread profile is determined at one side in a scanning process. A symmetry line (S) of the external or the internal thread of the test specimen (1) is formed. This additionally about the distance (A*) characterises the respective type of thread, which corresponds to the half desired flank diameter (d 2soll), is shifted in the axis section in the thread contour (1.G) of the test specimen. At least one measurement of the actual thread gauge (B ist) is measured, between the intersection points (Z) of the symmetry line (S) with the thread contour (1.G). In addition the actual pitch (P 1st), also the flank angle (alpha ist) or the actual part flank angle (alpha ist/2) are determined. Emanating from this, the half actual triangle height (H ist/2), determines the position of the actual flank diameter (d 2ist), the flank diameter deviation (A d2 = d 2ist - d 2soll) from the measurement values (B ist), (P ist) and (alpha ist) or (alpha ist/2), according to the formula:
