The present invention addresses a method, apparatus and computer program product for enabling enhanced repetition radio resource management measurement mechanism in local area network with flexible time division duplex. For initiating a radio resource management measurement accomplished by a user equipment of a host cell and approaching a neighboring cell, the base station of the host cell transmits information indicating a radio resource management measurement subband and a cross link measurement subframe to the user equipment and not performing an uplink transmission, wherein the radio resource management measurement subband is an uplink prohibited subband that is being used in a downlink transmission of the neighboring cell, and the cross link measurement subframe is a subframe capable of being used for completing an uplink to downlink switch.

A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided in order to support time switched data transmissions in a dual connectivity environment. The method may include receiving a signal to configure a semi-static predefined pattern for uplink (UL) transmissions by the communication device, wherein the predefined pattern ensures that the communication device communicates exclusively with one of the plurality of links at a time, and causing the communication device to transmit data to the plurality of links according to the predefined pattern. The signal may comprise a radio resource control (RRC) signal. The method may further include receiving a first link activation message from a first link of the plurality of links, the first link activation message indicating that the communication device will exclusively transmit data to the first link. A corresponding apparatus and computer program product are also provided.

A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided in order to enhance buffer status reporting in a dual connectivity environment. In a first embodiment, the method establishes a resource quota configuration to use for allocating resources for each of the links connected to a communication device. In a second embodiment, the method may receive a BSR from the communication device, wherein the BSR requests uplink transmission of a first amount of data using only the first link, and requests uplink transmission of a second amount of data using any of the plurality of links, and transmitting a resource scheduling grant to the communication device based on the BSR. In a third embodiment, the method may provide the communication device with the resource quota for each link to optimize the BSR. A corresponding apparatus and computer program product are also provided.

Systems and techniques for link failure management in multiple connection systems. Upon detection of a link failure with a local area base station during a dual connection mode in which the user device is connected to a macro base station and a local area base station, a user device sends a failure indication and a measurement results report for serving and neighboring base stations to its serving macro base station, and selects a response to the failure based at least in part on evaluation information received from the macro base station. Upon detection of a link failure with a macro base station, the user device determines whether to reconnect to the macro base station or a different macro base station and whether to reconnect with the original local area base station or a different local area base station.

In a mobile communication system, a TDD UL-DL configuration of a time division duplex uplink-downlink allocation to be used in the next period of a system information change is coded (S12) in fields of at least one frame relating to a paging message used to inform user equipments about a change of the TDD UL-DL configuration in the next period. The TDD UL-DL configuration is coded in reserved bits of specific fields of a downlink control channel for the paging message, or an information element is added to the paging message, the TDD UL-DL configuration is coded into the information element and an indication is included in the paging message that the information element containing the TDD UL-DL configuration is added.
