Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ion mobility spectrometer improved in function and reliability, as well as small in number of parts and simple in manufacturing. SOLUTION: The ion mobility spectrometer, in which a reaction ionizing chamber and/or an ion drift tube is structured with one or more single piece of glass tubes, is disclosed. An inner face of the glass tube is structured to have electrical conductivity by heat processing and/or chemical processing. The glass tube is used as substitute for a stacked body formed by a metallic annular member and a ceramic annular member generally used in a device such as a spectrometer. PURPOSE: To provide a camera housing, capable of adjusting the angle of a TV camera with respect to a horizontal line in an air/tightly sealed state. CONSTITUTION: A camera 16 is mounted on a cradle 12 having a sealing device to both ends 18, 28 of the housing 10. The both ends 18, 28 are sealed by conventional O-ring seals 22, 32 and end plates 24, 34 fixed to the cradle 12. Pressure is applied equally to both the end plates 24, 34 at all times and since the plates 24, 34 are coupled mutually in a way of mechanical structure, when the housing 10 is open, scattering of components due to a released pressure is prevented. The cradle 12 is fitted furnably with respect to a fixed outer casing 14, independently of an internal pressure, and the angle of the camera 16 with respect to a horizontal line is adjusted.

PURPOSE: To provide a photomultiplier with low transit time dispersion characteristics and low noise factor and capable of using in high speed operation system. CONSTITUTION: A semiconductor photodiode 14 functions as an anode and accepts electrons from a photocathode 12. The focusing structure of a tube consist of two parts, one is an anode focusing electrode 16, locates near to the photodiode 14, and the other is a grid focusing electrode 18, locates in the middle of the photodiode 14 and the photocathode 12, has two different diameters, and operates at low voltage. These electrodes form a focusing electric field so that electrons are sent efficiently from the photocathode with large surface area to the photodiode with small surface area. The photodiode is designed and fixed so as to function as a terminal member given excellent timing characteristics.

PURPOSE: To efficiently perform monitoring by generating an alarm output signal when a synchronizing input signal is received at the input of a shift register having a signal input connected to the output of an exclusive OR circuit, a clock input, and a plurality of outputs. CONSTITUTION: The output of an exclusive OR circuit 12 is supplied to a shift register 16 which accumulates a preset number of continuous motion indicating signals and, when a prescribed number of continuous motion indicting signals is accumulated, an alarm signal is generated. Since the register 16 is driven with a system clock, the register 16 is synchronized to the circuit 12. The alarm signal is generated by means of a plurality of input circuits 18 and the circuits 18 generate the final alarm signal upon receiving a required number of signals at their inputs. The timing of the alarm signal is also accurately synchronized to the system clock.

PURPOSE: To detect not only movement in a horizontal direction but also the one in a vertical direction by displaying the vertical movement based on time difference between mutual signs which display horizontal movement. CONSTITUTION: The output of a 64×64 memory 12 is connected to a series of 64 bit shift registers 21-28, the whole registers are driven by a system clock and theh outputs of the shift registers are connected to AND gate configurations. In this case, when a certain horizontal movement flag is continued by another flag after 64-sampling, it means that vertical movement occurs. Therefore, when the 8 shift registers and the four AND gates are used, the four, six or nine vertically adjacent movement flags are selected by an operator so that vertical movement alarm is issued based on it.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photomultiplier tube in which condensing efficiency of radial rays incident, especially from the front side is improved, and the condensed radial rays can be connected much more efficiently to a photoelectric cathode, and has a high packaging density when assembled in an array, thereby imaging characteristics can be improved. SOLUTION: The improved condensing efficiency of the radial rays and the improved packaging density of the photomultiplier tube are obtained by combining many characteristics including that a taper is made at the edge of a face plate so that the face plate may demarcate a cross-sectional area same as or larger than the cross-sectional area of the photomultiplier tube, that the face plate and a metal tube are connected at the lower side of the face plate so that an optical path between the incident radial rays and the photoelectric cathode may not be obstructed, and that the tapered edge of the face plate may be used as a reflector for connecting the radial rays incident into the surroundings of the face plate to the photoelectric cathode. PURPOSE: To use a composite section photomultiplier tube for monitoring a radiated beam being incident into a large area region. CONSTITUTION: A composite section photomultiplier tube 10 has plural photomultiplier tube sections 14 in a single envelope, and regions, between photoelectric cathodes 24 and dynode cages 26 in the respective section, are separated from the other regions by shielding structure. The respective photoelectric cathodes act in cooperating with the corresponding diode cages, and one dinode 35 in the respective dinode cages is electrically independent from the other dinodes, also independently led outside the envelope. This can adjust the gains of the respective tube sections independently from the others, thereby making all section respond the same responses to a reference radiation signal.
