PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a one-piece vial assembly having a container and a cap that provides a moisture-free environment for items that require packaging and retention in a moisture-free environment. SOLUTION: The container 10 and the cap 30 are joined together by a hinge34, hence the vial assembly is a one-piece assembly in which the cap 10 is opened in a "flip-top" arrangement. The vial assembly includes a desiccant entrained plastic. In one embodiment, the sleeve surrounds the vial assembly interior with a thin-walled plastic so that the product contained within the vial assembly 1 is completely surrounded by the desiccant entrained plastic sleeve 17. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a product, wherein releasable materials (physiologically active components, wetting and drying substance, and perfume component) are included in a water-insoluble polymer and the releasable materials are released from the water-insoluble polymer, and releasing materials are held on a hydrophilic material (a channeling agent) configuring a releasing channel; and to provide a composition used for producing the product.SOLUTION: The product comprises: a water-insoluble polymer; interconnecting channels (45) formed in the hydrophilic materials formed in the inside of the water-insoluble polymer; and the releasable material that is absorbed and held in the channels. The interconnecting channels act as controlled transmission passages through the polymer. The solidified product may be used to form a desired shaped article such as plug type inserts (55) and liners (70) for closed containers, or it may be formed into a film, sheet (75), bead, or pellet.

SOLUTION: The present invention includes processes and resulting structures for producing a modified polymer having interconnecting channels. The interconnecting channels act as controlled transmission passages through the polymer. A hydrophilic agent is blended into the polymer so that it is distributed within the polymer. In one embodiment, an absorbing and releasing material is blended into the polymer so that the absorbing and releasing material is distributed within the product. The product is solidified so that the hydrophilic agent forms passages in the product through which a desired composition is communicable to the absorbing and releasing material that is entrained within the product. The solidified product may be used to form a desired shaped article such as plug type inserts and liners for closed containers, or it may be formed into a film, sheet, bead or pellet. The container 120 has a container base, and a sidewall 124 projecting upwardly from the base. The top container surface extends inward from the sidewalls 124. The top container surface is provided with an opening that permits access to the interior of the container. The cap portion 102 has a base portion with an outer periphery that extends over at least a portion of the container portion. The cap base is provided with a skirt that projects downwardly from the base portion. The skirt is configured at a location on the base portion that allows the skirt to enter into a sealing relationship with the container portion.
