Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention provide a system, method and devices. A communication network may comprise several network elements and may be adapted to route a connection via a first network element such as a radio network controller and one or more of alternatively selectable second network elements such as serving nodes. A network element may store a list of selectable second network elements. The list may be accessed using an identifier identifying a routing or location area or a desired second network element. The list can be stored in a domain name system, DNS, server which may return to an inquiring network element such as a radio network controller e.g. internet protocol, IP, addresses of serving nodes capable of serving a routing or location area of a connection originating or terminating network element.
Abstract:
A method for editing objects on a device comprising forming a first path on a touch screen with a pointing device. The first path at least partially encloses an object. The at least partially enclosed object is automatically selected. A second path is formed at a predetermined area on the touch screen with the pointing device. The second path activates an editing operation.
Abstract:
Various aspects of the disclosure relate to a portable electronic wireless communication device configured to: receive, from a user, a first configuration specifying one or more remote information resources; receive, from the user, a second configuration specifying the user's preference on information content to be received from the one or more remote information sources for displaying on the idle screen, the information to be received via a wireless communication network; store the first configuration and the second configuration in the device; receive the information content from the one or more remote information resources through the wireless communication network; and display, on at least a portion of the idle screen, the received information content based on the saved first configuration and the saved second configuration; wherein the idle screen is a screen displayed by the device when the user of the device is not navigating to a particular function, nor actively using a particular application.
Abstract:
A message comprising content destined to an upper-level application such as Java applications is received, such that the application is separated from messaging client. The capability data relating to client terminal is obtained and checked whether it comprises data about upper level application that is supported by client terminal. The actions responsive to checking phase are conducted. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) network element; (2) signal; (3) client terminal; (4) message handling system; and (5) computer program for handling message addressed to client terminal.
Abstract:
A remote control framework enables a plurality of target devices to be controlled by a plurality of remote control devices irrespective of bearer types. In a preferred embodiment any target device may also act as a control device and any control device may also act as a target device. The framework also enables any application running on any target device to be controlled by any controller device.
Abstract:
An apparatus, method and computer program product are provided for filtering media files for inclusion in a user's profile. A user may define rules to prevent certain media files from being included in his/her profile and, if desired, to redirect the media files to another individual's profile. The recommendation service, itself, may further generate rules to be used to filter the media files. When a media file that meets one of the rules defined by the user, or automatically by the service, is consumed in association with the user's account, a reference associated with the media file may, depending upon the requirements of the rule, be placed into a temporary folder, from which the user may delete the reference or redirect it to his or her own, or another's, profile.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses are provided for operating a radio link protocol receiver when receiving data blocks from a transmitter. One method includes receiving a data block and making a determination as to whether the size of a receive window is less than or equal to a bitmap size, where the bitmap size is the maximum size, in bits, of the bitmap to be reported in an acknowledgment message. If the determination is positive, then the reported bitmap covers the entire receive window, while if the determination is negative the reported bitmap covers only the beginning of the receive window and covers as many blocks as there are bits in the reported bitmap. Another method includes making a determination as to whether the size of the receive window is less than or equal to the bitmap size, and, if the determination is positive, the reported bitmap covers the entire receive window, while if the determination is negative, either a first partial bitmap covering an initial portion of the receive window is reported, or a next partial bitmap covering some portion other than the initial portion of the receive window is reported.
Abstract:
A user of a mobile terminal is enabled to call emergency services in a wireless telecommunications network, whether or not the user is in a foreign country. If the user signals for emergency help by sending an emergency call code to the base station, the user is connected to an emergency center corresponding to the user's base station. The user may also be provided with an emergency services display. Further, the user may be connected to a specific type of emergency center corresponding to the user's base station, if the user signals for the specific type of emergency center by sending a service category to the base station. These emergency signals sent from the mobile terminal to the base station are location-independent.
