    Abstract: 844,524. Boxes. DAY & CO: Ltd., E. J. Nov. 18, 1957 [Jan. 8, 1957], No. 714/57. Class 18. A box blank as shown in the Figure, has self-adhesive surfaces where indicated by the shaded areas. The base 4 has side panels 1, 4a, 2, 4a that fold up to form the box walls. The panels 1, 2 have end flaps la, 2a that fold inwardly to lie against the inner faces of the side panels 4a and are held there by folding down the adhesive tongues 4c on the panel 4a onto the adhesive areas 1b, 2b on the end flaps 1a, 2a. The lid 5, extending from the panel 2, has end flaps 5a that tuck into the box when the lid is closed. To seal the box the lid 5 has a front panel 3 that folds down over the front of the box at the same time as arcuate wings 3a on the front panel 3 slide between the end flaps 1a and the side walls 4a, the cut away corners of the end flaps la, 2a, permitting the adhesive area 3b on the arcuate wings 3a to engage the adhesive on the tongues 4c.

A gramophone record sleeve or like flat container incorporating an envelope composed of a sheet of stiff paper or board which is folded over upon itself to form front and back panels for the envelope 3, 2, one having outer margins 3a which fold into edge-to-edge abutting relationship with the narrower other panel 2. The margins 3a and narrower panel are secured together by a separate back cover sheet 4 which overlays the whole area, Fig. 4, with a margin folded around the fold line 1. A further sheet 5 may be secured overall by three narrow margins 5a, 5c.

    Abstract: An aspirator and method for separating fines and foreign matter from dry, free-flowing granular material, characterized by a vertical drop of the unclean granular material in a separation plenum into an opposing upward air stream and a plurality of vertically-spaced, horizontally-extending transverse air streams. Suspended fines and foreign matter are conducted from the granular material in the separation plenum through a plurality of vertically-spaced outlets into a manifold for discharge from the aspirator. The apparatus and method avoid bunching, recompaction and congregating of the granular material during the separation process, to thereby increase throughput and optimize separation efficiency.

Reverse flow cleaning of inward flow filter sleeves 19, Fig. 1, grouped in compartments 30 within the separator chamber 10 of a easing 1 is effected by a blast of compressed air from a blower 32 discharging through ducts 43, 44 to a manifold 49 having a butterfly valve 50, which together with said ducts and manifold is rotated over a horizontal partition 9 having openings 17, Fig. 2, forming the upper open ends of the sleeves 19; the valve element 54 being suddenly opened and closed when placed in and out of register with said openings 17, according to whether a roller 74 carried by a spring-biassed valve operating lever 71 engages surfaces 78, 77 of an annular stationary cam 75 on partition 9. As shown, the filter sleeves are arranged in two concentric circles and are cleaned in pairs and the valve casing 53 has a rearwardly projecting plate 59, Fig. 4, serving to maintain closed the openings 17 of the pair of sleeves just having been cleaned to allow the dust to settle. Preliminary separation of dust from air entering the casing inlet 12 is effected by inner and outer cylindrical baffles 27, Fig. 3 (not shown), 28 separating by plane radially extending baffles 29 A filtered air chamber 11 has a tangential outlet 13 leading to atmosphere and adjacent which is the inlet 37 of the blower fan 32. In a modification the valves of a pair of filter casings are rotated by a common motor and are supplied with compressed air by a common blower. In a further modification dust-laden air is drawn through the filter casing and ambient air is drawn through the valve when in its open position.
