Abstract:
The present application discloses preparations of antimicrobial wound dressings. Strongly binding polymeric dialkyi aminoalkyi (meth)acrylates are used to treat highly absorbent wound dressing materials. The resulting finish is highly antimicrobial effective and non- leachable.
Abstract:
Highly active, leach-resistant, antimicrobial nonwoven textiles are prepared by treating at least one surface of the nonwoven material with an anionic polyelectrolyte, such as carboxymethyl cellulose, alginic acid, poly(acrylic acid) etc and at least one select quaternary ammonium antimicrobial agent. The textiles of the invention, and products produced from them, exhibit a highly effective quick kill rate, for example a log 4 CFU reduction within a 5 minute contact time, against microbes such as fungi and gram (-) and gram (+) bacteria.
Abstract:
Disclosed are embodiments of a multicellular spheroid, including a core containing first skin cells; the core can have an average diameter of about 10 μm to about 900 μm. The multicellular spheroid may further include a shell overlaying the core, the shell having second skin cells. Further disclosed are systems containing such multicellular spheroids and methods of preparation and use of multicellular spheroids.

Abstract:
Polymeric anti-microbial agents produced by substituting the nitrogen atoms in the backbone of ethenimine polymers are provided. The agents are believed to have low human toxicity while being effective against a variety of pathogens and are useful in applications involving human contact, such as cosmetics, hair care products and textiles, as well as in applications with much less human contact, such as coatings.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a fluorescent pigment comprising a) a melamine-formaldehyde polycondensation product, b) a distyryl biphenyl fluorescent whitening agent (FWA) of the formula (1), in which R 1 represents hydrogen, chlorine or C 1 -C 4 alkoxy and M represents hydrogen, an alkaline or alkaline earth metal, ammonium or ammonium that is mono-, di-, tri- or tetrasubstituted by C 1 -C 4 alkyl or C 2 -C 4 hydroxyalkyl and, optionally, c) at least one additional fluorescent whitening agent, a process for its preparation and use thereof for the fluorescent whitening of paper, especially in coating.
Abstract:
The application relates to oral care compositions comprising substantive polyesteramides formed from polyols, polycarboxylic acids (or esters, anhydrides or halides thereof) and arginine. The formed polyesteramides are active in biofilm inhibition, biofilm dissolution and retarding or preventing acid production from oral bacteria.
Abstract:
The present application relates to oligomeric antimicrobial compounds and compositions comprising the same. The oligomers are formed by polymerizing aminoalkyi (meth)acrylate or aminoalkyi (meth)acrylamide monomer(s). In addition to imparting materials with broad spectrum antimicrobial activity, the oligomers can impart antimicrobial activity to substrates such as hair and skin.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a process for coating the surface of a substrate comprises the following steps (i) oxidizing the surface of the substrate (ii) applying a composition comprising one or more quaternary ammonium compounds carrying one or more ethylenically unsaturated groups onto the oxidized surface of the substrate and (iii) curing the composition in order to form a coating layer, and substrates obtainable by the latter process.
Abstract:
