Abstract:
PURPOSE: To exactly code for moving articles by selecting the articles while the articles are transported through an inspection area, swiveling an indicating means toward the positions of the articles and generating a signal reacting with the angular position formed by the indication means. CONSTITUTION: The plural articles 11 are transported through the detection area by a transporting means 12. The slender instruction means 13 has a top end swivelably mounted at supporting means 23, 26, 28 in such a manner that the top end can swivel at least in two directions above the transporting means within the selected range of the inspection area. Further, the means 13 is provided with a means for separating the separated articles from the other articles according to their coding. The indication means 13 is provided with means 32, 33 for generating at least one signal in reaction with the swiveling motion of the indication means 13 for checking the position of the articles when the articles to be selected on the transporting means 12 are engaged by the indication means 13. Consequently, the exact coding for the moving articles is mode possible.
Abstract:
A transfer system for providing faster and increased volume processing of eggs having an overhead positioned egg conveyor. A rotating brush wheel positioned underneath the conveyor receives eggs and includes a first and second pluralities of bristles having, respectively, lesser and greater stiffness. An egg receiving reservoir exhibits a receiving lane positioned underneath and in alignment with the brush wheel for receiving and redirecting the eggs in a lane dedicated fashion to a subsequent egg handling operation. A plurality of spool bars are arranged in parallel extending and spaced apart fashion and defining a number of individual egg conveying lanes and each further include first and second spool bar portions secured in end-to-end fashion to establish an overall dimension. First and second drive supports are arranged at opposite ends of the spool bar portions, a third drive support arranged within the egg transfer mechanism and supporting opposing and intermediate engaging ends of each pair of spool bar portions. The intermediate drive support prevents sagging of the intermediate ends of the spool bar portions.
Abstract:
A system for sorting articles includes a conveyor transporting the articles in conveying zones. An identifier directed at an identification zone on the conveyor identifies an article bearing a particular characteristic. A sliding gate coupled to the conveyor at a removal zone on the conveyor downstream from the identification zone is arranged below the articles and controlled by the identifier to open when the article bearing the characteristic passes the removal zone. The sliding gate opens parallel to the conveyor and either in the conveyor direction or the direction opposing the conveyor direction. The sliding gate provides an opening of the same length as the conveying zone. A device for sorting articles includes a sliding gate on the conveyor at a removal zone. The sliding gate is arranged below the articles and controlled by an-identifier to open when an article bearing a characteristic passes the removal zone. The identifier is directed at an identification zone on the conveyor and is able to identify the article bearing a characteristic at the identification zone. A method for sorting articles includes conveying the articles and identifying an article bearing a characteristic at an identification zone. The method also includes separating the article bearing the characteristic from the articles not bearing the characteristic by a sliding gate. The sliding gate is coupled to the conveyor at a removal zone downstream from the identification zone. The sliding gate is controlled by an identifier and opens when the article bearing the characteristic passes the removal zone.
Abstract:
A conveying and orienting system for handling eggs including a main conveyor for supporting thereupon a plurality of eggs and for segregating the same into individual file lines prior to delivery to a spool bar conveyor for subsequent egg handling operations. One or more return conveyors are positioned alongside the main conveyor and communicate with the main conveyor at first and second end locations. A control mechanism independently adjusts a travel speed of at least one of the main and return conveyors, this in order to redirect, along the return conveyors for reintroduction onto upstream locations of the main conveyor, a plurality of eggs which exceed of the present handling capabilities of the individual segregating lanes and spool bar.
