Abstract:
Ligands, compositions, and metal-ligand complexes that incorporate phenol-heterocyclic compounds are disclosed that are useful in the catalysis of transformations such as the polymerization of monomers into polymers. The catalysts have high performance characteristics, including high comonomer incorporation into ethylene/olefin copolymers, where such olefins are for example, 1-octene, propylene or styrene. The catalysts particularly polymerize styrene to form polystyrene.
Abstract:
The invention relates to liquid chromatography techniques for rapidly characterizing samples, such as polymer solutions, emulsions and dispersions, and to devices for implementing such techniques. The system includes a design that provides the ability to perform chromatographic separations by using mobile phase composition gradients and temperature gradients during separations. The invention accomplishes this by providing mixing zones for a plurality of fluids as well as heated and chilled feeds feeding the fluids to the mixing zones. Additionally, the system provides the ability to analyze separated components with a detector and/or collect separated fractions into vessels of a fraction collector for further separation and/or analysis.
Abstract:
Ligands, compositions, metal-ligand complexes and arrays with substituted bridged bis-biaromatic ligands and method of making and using the same, are disclosed that are useful in the catalysis of transformations such as the polymerization of monomers into polymers. The catalyts have high performance characteristics, including higher comonomer incorporation into ethylene/olefin copolymers, where such olefins are for exmaple, 1-octene, propylene or styrene. The catalysts also polymerize propylene into isotactic polypropylene.
Abstract:
The invention provides ethylene/α-olefin copolymers exhibiting improved environmental stress cracking resistance properties, and methods for the production of the copolymers in a single reactor by means of a bimetallic catalyst including a Ziegler component and a metallocene component.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a parallel batch reactor for effecting chemical reactions includes a vessel block comprising reactor vessels for receiving components of a reaction and a valve block removably attached to the vessel block. The valve block includes a first plurality of valves in fluid communication with an inlet port for supplying pressurized fluid to the reactor vessels and configured to fluidically isolate one or more of the reactor vessels from at least one of the other reactor vessels. The valve block further includes a second plurality of valves in fluid communication with the reactor vessels for injecting chemical components into the pressurized reactor vessels or sampling chemical components from the pressurized reactor vessels. The vessel block and valve block are configured to sustain an operating pressure of at least 15 psig.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method of producing oligomers of olefins, comprising reacting olefins with a chromium based catalyst under oligomerization conditions. The catalyst can be the product of the combination of a chromium compound and a pyridyl thioether compound. In particular embodiments, the catalyst compound can be used to trimerize or tetramerize ethylene to 1 -hexene, 1 -octene, or mixtures of 1 -hexene and 1 -octene.
