Abstract: 278,709. Weidner, E. Oct. 8, 1926, [Convention date]. Fixed-chamber apparatus.- A coin-freed apparatus for selling slices of soap cut from a stick supplies also a measured quantity of perfume or disinfectant, the invention being described particularly in connection with the soap delivery machine described in Specification 263,372, [Class 27, Coin-freed apparatus &c.]. Each time, after prepayment, the operating handle for severing a portion of soap is actuated, the toothed feed wheel that drives the towel delivery mechanism as described in the prior Specification, rotates also a wheel f carrying a cam g. The cam g, through a lever i, gives a partial rotation to a shaft k thereby opening a cock m and' placing a reservoir, through a pipe n, in communication with a measuring vessel s which has an air escape pipe t shut off by a float valve u when the liquid in the vessel has risen sufficiently. The lever i is returned by a spring to close the cock m. The liquid in the vessel s is discharged to a cup b through a pipe v controlled by a hand operated valve. This valve comprises a piston w having a passage a which is brought into communication with the vessel and the pipe v by pressing a push-button y and moving the piston inwardly against the action of a spring z. The rotation of the shaft k operates a counter l.

Abstract: 353,156. Paper-folding machines. WEIDNER, E., 26, Alexandrinenstrasse, Berlin. May 26, 1930, No. 16113. [Classes 100 (i) and 100 (ii).] In a buckling folder for folding printed matter, letters, &c., the pair of guide rollers 5, 6 are so arranged relatively to the feed-table 2 and the stop-plate 17 as to bend the sheet in the direction of and cause it to enter the plate 17 without liability to crumpling by impact with the plate. For this purpose, the axis of the lower roller 5 is not vertically below the axes of the upper roller 6, but is situated nearer to the plate 17. Further, the roller 10 co-operating with the roller 5 to complete the fold has its axis above the horizontal plane containing the axis of the roller 5, so that the once-folded sheet is fed up the stop 26 of a second stop-plate 24 without impacting with the plate 24. The rollers are all made of non-metallic substances which are non-conductors of electricity, such as rubber, synthetic resins, linoleum, ebonite, artificial stone, or ceramic materials, to minimize the likelihood of sheets adhering to one another due to becoming charged with electricity. The central roller 5 preferably has a relatively soft coating of rubber. Delivery apparatus.-A roller 13 co-operates with the roller 5 to deliver the folded sheet over a guide 35 to a receiver situated beneath the table and comprising two side members 27. 31, the former of which has a bottom member 29 mounted thereon which is lowered by hand by means of a set-screw 30 as the pile of sheets increases.

Abstract: 260,938. Weidner, E. Nov. 6, 1925, [Convention date]. Piston apparatus for discharging receptacles.- A device for storing and delivering creams, pastes, and the like, such as dentifrices, comprises a sleeve b of cardboard open at both ends and slotted at d. The material a, which may be covered at the sides with paper, gelatine, &c. e, is moved upwards by pressing a finger upon a movable, bottom plate c, and a slice is cut off and delivered by a knife edge m on a reciprocable plate i, Figs. 1 and 5, at the top. The plate i slides in a frame g, and has a portion m stamped out in a downward direction to form the cutting edge, a portion o being turned back to form a guide for the strip of material. The aperture n is closed with gelatine &c. Stops k prevent the plate from being moved too far. In modifications, the knife may be replaced by a cutting wire, or may move in a circular or arcuate path, or the mass may be pressed against the plate by weights or springs.

Abstract: 230,469. Weidner, E. March 8, 1924, [Convention date]. Soap tablets 1 are formed with transverse holes or channels 2 packed with perfumes, medicaments, or other substances that would deteriorate if mixed with the soap mass. The filling is if necessary brought to the desired pasty or like consistency by mixture with fat, wax, stearin cream, or the like. The ends of the holes may be closed by plugs of soap or other substances soluble in water, or by removable celluloid or other plugs or caps. The ends of the fillings may be coloured or impressed or otherwise marked. Different fillings may be used in different holes, and they may be such as to interact when the soap is used.
