Abstract:
A method, apparatus, and system for providing ad hoc venue-cast content to a plurality of receiving access terminals within a venue boundary. Ad hoc content may be generated at an access terminal (201), transmitted to a venue-cast server (204, 205), and broadcast to a plurality of venue-cast receiving access terminals (207) within a venue. In addition to broadcasting the ad hoc content, a notification is given to the plurality of receiving access terminals, notifying them regarding the availability of the ad hoc content.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus for facilitating handover in a TD-SCDMA system is provided. The method may comprise receiving, from a node B, a channel quality indicator (CQI) request, wherein the CQI request is not associated with a payload transmission.
Abstract:
A venue-cast system and method for providing and receiving venue level transmissions and services, including discovery of a venue specific transmission by receiving an overhead signal from a non-venue network, extracting information for receiving the venue specific transmission from the overhead signal, and tuning to receive the venue specific transmission based on the extracted information. The venue level transmission may be provided and received in a manner that does not prevent an access terminal from receiving a local area or wide area transmission.
Abstract:
Techniques for interference cancellation in a CDMA system. In an exemplary embodiment, a channel set scrambled using a secondary scrambling code (SSC) is estimated and cancelled along with a channel set scrambled using a primary scrambling code (SSC). The estimation and cancellation of the SSC channel set may proceed in series with the estimation and cancellation of the PSC channel set. Alternatively, the estimation of the SSC channel set may proceed in parallel with the estimation of the PSC channel set, and the cancellations of the PSC and SSC channel sets may be simultaneously performed. Multiple iterations of such estimation and cancellation may be performed in a successive interference cancellation (SIC) scheme.
Abstract:
A method of initializing a receiver is performed during an initialization mode. Timing offset values for a timing recovery circuit are repeatedly selected. For each selected timing offset value, timing recovery is performed using the timing offset value and groups of weights for a decision feedback equalizer are repeatedly selected. Each selected group of weights is used to perform blind decision feedback equalization. For each selected group of weights, a metric indicating data reception quality is computed. A timing offset value and a group of weights are chosen based on the computed metrics.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for effectively managing uplink interference in a TD-SCDMA HSUPA system is provided. The method may comprise receiving a load indicator from each of one or more non-serving node Bs, calculating a load factor for each of the one or more non-serving node Bs, generating a weighted serving and neighbor node B path loss (SNPL) metric by applying the calculated load factor to a non-weighted SNPL metric determination, and transmitting the generated weighted SNPL metric to a serving node B.
Abstract:
Techniques to increase the capacity of a W-CDMA wireless communications system. In an exemplary embodiment, early termination (400) of one or more transport channels on a W-CDMA wireless communications link is provided. In particular, early decoding (421, 423) is performed on slots as they are received over the air, and techniques are described for signaling (431, 432) acknowledgment messages (ACK's) for one or more transport channels correctly decoded to terminate the transmission of those transport channels. The techniques may be applied to the transmission of voice signals using the adaptive multi-rate (AMR) codec. Further exemplary embodiments describe aspects to reduce the transmission power and rate of power control commands sent over the air, as well as aspects for applying tail-biting convolutional codes (1015) in the system.

Abstract:
A security system is applied to venue-cast content transmissions over a broadcast/multicast network infrastructure. The broadcast network infrastructure may be Evolution-Data Only Broadcast Multicast Services (BCMCS) that facilitates distribution of a subscription-based content delivery service. A venue-cast service can be part of the subscription-based content delivery service and has an associated service key. Upon subscribing to the content delivery service, the subscriber access terminal is given the service key. Such service key may be associated with a particular subscriber package and/or venue location. The same service key is provided to the broadcast network infrastructure that broadcasts venue-cast content. A broadcast access key is generated by the broadcast network infrastructure and used to encrypt venue-specific content to be broadcasted. Consequently, only access terminals that have received the service key (e.g., subscribe to the associated subscription package and/or are located at a specific venue or location) can decrypt the broadcasted content.
