Abstract:
Phosphonomethylated polyvinyl amines containing characteristic structural elements of formula (I), where R1 is H, C¿1? to C6 alkyl or (II) and X is H, an alkali metal equivalent, ammonium equivalent or alkaline earth metal equivalent, process for preparing phosphonomethylated polyvinyl amines by phosphonomethylation of polymerizates containing N-vinyl amide groups or vinyl amine groups, and use of the phosphonomethylated polymerizates as additives in detergents and as agents for treating water.
Abstract:
Water-soluble copolymerizates obtained by polymerization of the following characteristic monomers: (a) 99 to 50 wt.% of monoethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acids with 3 to 8 carbon atoms or their salts and (b) 1 to 50 wt.% of N-vinylimidazole or substituted N-vinylimidazoles, their salts or quaternizing products, and having K-values of 10 to 50, are used as water-softening agents to reduce the deposit of boiler scale and water hardening agents in water-conducting systems.
Abstract:
Fuels for internal combus- tion engines or lubricants contain small amounts of polyisobutylaminoalcohols of the formulae Ia and Ib where R is polyisobutyl having a number average molecular weight of 500 to 5,000 and in each of the two formulae one of the radicals X is OH and the other is the group where the radicals R1 may be identical or different and are each hydrogen, alkyl, hydroxyalkyl or aminoalkyl which may be substituted by further hydroxyl- or amino- carrying alkyl radicals, or the two radicals R1 may form a nonaromatic ring.

of the Disclosure: Water-soluble copolymers containing as characteristic monomers (a) from 99 to 50% by weight of monoethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acids of 3 to 8 carbon atoms or salts thereof and (b) from 1 to 50% by weight of monomers of the formula CH2=CH-NR2-CO-R1, where R1 and R2 are each H or C1-C6-alkyl, as copolymerized units and have K values of from 10 to 50, and the copolymers obtainable therefrom by elimination of formyl groups with the formation of vinylamine units are suitable for use as water treatment agents for preventing scale formation and water hardness precipitation in water carrying systems.
