Abstract: The invention relates to a lifting appliance or a jack for vehicles preferably comprising axles or four drive wheels. Said lifting appliance mainly comprises a base (1) to which an arm (4) is connected in an articulated manner, said arm containing a height-adjustable rod (5) having an upper end (6) which is positioned beneath a vehicle body or an axle, in order to change a wheel, for example. The inventive appliance eliminates certain steps carried out to lift the vehicle or to fold up the arm of the jack once the wheel has been changed, especially the use of a crank for cranking up the jack. Said novel appliance requires only one manual operation, that is mainly to manually position the appliance beneath the vehicle, in the usual spot for said function.
