Abstract: A screen filter for wastewater applications includes a chain tensioner assembly configured to provide a tensioning force for a screen filter chain. The chain tensioner assembly includes a slide plate configured to move axially with respect to the screen filter chain, and a shaft mount attached to the slide plate and configured to mount a shaft. The chain tensioner assembly additionally includes an abutment member attached to the slide plate. The chain tensioner assembly further includes a spring adjuster having at least one spring and configured to contact the abutment member to provide a bias force to the slide plate.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a system includes first anoxic moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) configured to receive a fluid containing selenium and to process the fluid via a first biofilm disposed on a first media to produce a first MBBR fluid by removing nitrogen from the fluid. The system further includes a second anoxic MBBR fluidly coupled to the first MBBR to receive the first MBBR fluid and to process the first MBBR fluid via a second biofilm disposed on a second media to produce a selenium enriched fluid, followed by a solid-liquid separation system to remove selenium in solid form as sludge and produce a treated effluent containing equal to or less than 5 micrograms of selenium per liter. The system includes a plurality of first sensors and first actuators disposed on the first MBBR, and a plurality of second sensors and second actuators disposed on the second MBBR.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes receiving wastewater having a first total organic carbon (TOC) at a wastewater treatment system comprising a reactor system, wherein the reactor system comprises an anaerobic moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) and an aerobic MBBR. The method further includes treating the wastewater in the anaerobic MBBR, wherein the anaerobic MBBR comprises first bio-carriers configured to degrade at least a portion of the first TOC in the wastewater to generate a first treated wastewater and biogas, wherein the first treated wastewater has a second TOC that is less than the first TOC. The method also includes providing the biogas to an external system.

Abstract: An integrated wastewater treatment system is provided that significantly reduces the footprint as compared to conventional systems. Components for primary wastewater treatment are mechanical in nature and provide for initial screen filtration, such as for the removal of trash and particulates down to a first size. This screen filtration is fully integrated with fine filtration to complete the primary wastewater treatment. The primary wastewater treatment is integrated with the secondary wastewater treatment, which may be positioned immediately adjacent to or below the primary wastewater treatment components to allow for flow directly from one to the other, further reducing the footprint and increasing efficiency and throughput.

Abstract: A modular secondary wastewater treatment system includes one or more dedicated vessels that perform a single secondary wastewater treatment operation. The reactor vessels may be made by converting standard intermodal transport containers for this purpose. The containers are stood on end with the front of the container forming the bottom of the vessel. Openings in the sidewalls of the vessels are piped to one another to establish the series and parallel flow paths desired for the modular system. The modular system allows for easy and standardized design, transport, set up and operation, with inherent scaling.

Abstract: A screen configuration is provided for the extraction of wastewater from a wastewater reactor, while precluding the entry of biological support media. The screen may be formed as a tubular structure, and may be drum-like or have wings in a T-shaped configuration. A flow modifier within the screen may include one or more tubes extending into the screen and forming annular sections around the tubes. Flow through the screen, then, is directed around the inner flow modifier tubes and through the tubes. The resulting pressures and flow velocities are such that slot velocities through openings in the screen are generally constant along the length of the screen, and the flow is more efficiently distributed. The screen may be reduced in length as compared to conventional wastewater treatment screens.
