Abstract:
A bracket assembly for mounting a windowpane to a window regulator. The bracket assembly includes a bracket body having a thickness substantially equal to the thickness of the adjacent windowpane. A pair of spaced sidewalls extend from the bracket body, defining a channel so that a portion of the windowpane is enveloped therein. The bracket assembly includes an aperture in the bracket body, operable to receive a mounting structure on a lift plate mounted to the window regulator. An adhesive bond is applied to between at least one of the spaced sidewalls and the abutting portion of the windowpane to bond the bracket assembly to the windowpane.
Abstract:
A window regulator including a drive rod having a linear axis; a runner connected to the drive rod for movement therealong; a window carrier pivotally secured to the runner for supporting a window; and a guide engaged by the window carrier having a radius of curvature such that the window carrier moves the window along a path coincident with the radius of curvature as the runner moves linearly along the drive rod.
Abstract:
A window regulator, e.g., for a vehicle window, which includes opposing block and pulley arrangements that interact via a lift pulley (36) mounted to a lift plate (16) that slides along a rail (22). Operative movement of a crank assembly (44) in a first sense tensions a cable (32a) to move the lift plate (16) towards a first end (34a) of the rail (22), and operative movement of the crank assembly (44) in a second sense, opposite the first sense, tensions a cable (32b) to move the lift plate (16) towards a second end (34b) of the rail (22). The regulator enables the reduction of the operating torque requirements without affecting the packaging of the crank assembly.
Abstract:
A parking brake assembly for a vehicle has a mounting bracket, a handle assembly and a clutching mechanism. The mounting bracket has a stop. The handle assembly is pivotally mounted on the mounting bracket for rotation about a first axis. The handle is moveable between a brake applied position and a brake release position. The handle has an actuator. A cam is pivotally mounted on the handle about a second axis offset from the first axis. The cam has a cam surface which varies radially from the second axis. The cam is biased to engage the stop. A clutch spring frictionally engages the cam and is operably connected to the actuator. Movement of the actuator in response to manual manipulation responsively moves the clutch spring to decrease the frictional engagement, thereby enabling the cam to engage with the stop. In response to releasing the actuator, the clutch spring moves to increase frictional engagement with the cam thereby retaining the cam in a position to engage the stop and prop the handle in a braking position.
Abstract:
An anti-pinch system controls the operation of a vehicle closure panel. The closure panel is movable through a frame between an open position providing access through the frame and a closed position closing the opening. A drive moves the closure panel between the open position and the closed position. A pneumatic sensor extends along the frame. The system includes a control unit electrically connected to the drive and the sensor to stop the closure panel moving towards the closed position to prevent the object from being trapped between the frame and the closure panel. The pneumatic sensor has a micro-leakage path allowing the sensor to vent to atmospheric compensating for temperature and pressure variations, while still enabling the sensor to detect transitory changes in pressure within the channel and thereby detect objects trapped in the path of the closure panel.
Abstract:
A method for assembling a motor vehicle door includes the steps of affixing a plurality of hardware components to a secondary trim component to form a door module assembly. The door module assembly is attached to the structural door body. A trim panel is secured to the structural door body overlaying the door module assembly. The secondary trim component has a map pocket wall and the trim panel has a map pocket opening. When the trim panel overlays the secondary trim component, the trim panel cooperates with the secondary trim component to define a map pocket.
Abstract:
A clip and a vehicle latch is provided for properly positioning an operational lever of the latch. The latch has a housing with an aperture. The clip is mounted on the lever. The clip has a base portion hingedly connected to a top portion and pivots between a closed condition and an open condition. The top portion has a hook that engages the aperture of the housing when the lever is in a predetermined position and when the top portion is in the open condition. The clip properly positions the lever for properly connecting the lever to a rod to operatively connect the latch to a release handle.
Abstract:
A door module assembly for a motor vehicle door has a plate-like carrier holding a plurality of door hardware components in a pre-configured orientation, including one or more window regulator rails. The carrier seals the motor vehicle door and includes a flap that provides at least partial access to the window regulator rails. A first trim panel is pre-fixed to the carrier. A second trim panel articulates with respect to the first trim panel between an initial position generally parallel to the first trim panel and an installed position generally in-line with the first trim panel. With the carrier storing substantially all of the hardware required for the door and the trim panels covering substantially the entire surface area of the door, handling and assembly operations are minimized.
Abstract:
A moveable control pedal assembly includes a pedal carriage to which a pedal arm is mounted. The carriage can be moved forward and backward via threaded extender rods which engage the pedal carriage to move it along the extender rods when they are rotated by a suitable drive means. A threaded control rod, extending between the pedal arm and a control device, such as a hydraulic cylinder or control cable, rotates with the extender rods and allows movement of the pedal carriage and pedal arm without altering the mechanical advantage provided by the pedal arm and without altering the lateral positioning of the control rod.
Abstract:
A vehicle door assembly has an inner sheet metal layer (16) which presents a substantially U-shaped structure. The inner sheet metal layer includes a latch mounting surface and at least one hinge mounting surface. An outer, substantially planar, sheet metal layer (14) is attached to the inner sheet metal layer to form a cavity. A structural reinforcement member (30) is disposed in the cavity to reinforce the inner and outer sheet metal layers, including reinforcements (44A,B and 28A,B) for the latch and hinge mounting surfaces. A carrier assembly (60) is mounted to the structural reinforcement member, covering the U-shaped area, and a trim component (50) covers the carrier assembly. By incorporating the structural door member, the thickness of the inner and outer sheet metal layers can be reduced, for a net weight and reduced material cost savings.
