Abstract:
Transfer management of licensed applications from an original user equipment (UE) device to a destination UE device is facilitated by a communication network that tracks the inventory of software application that has been previously licensed, and suggests a suite of applications equivalent to, an upgraded version of, or an appropriate cross sell opportunity for a configuration (e.g., chipset and operating system) of a destination UE device (e.g., cellular telephone able to run applications such as games, media players, and personal organizers, etc.) Business rules automate pricing appropriate for the proposed configuration to automate and increase the convenience for both the user and provider. Once accepted, the appropriate executable code is distributed to the destination UE device, appropriate pro-rated billing is initiated, and the prior licensed applications either locked for subsequent transfer back, or deleted to effect a permanent transfer.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are presented for recording broadcast media content at a wireless communication device and, in some aspects, sharing the recorded broadcast media content with other wireless communication devices. The disclosed aspects capture broadcasted media content at predetermined times by implementing a clock function that launches the capture and record module at the predetermined time. In certain aspects, the device incorporates a search function that allows for the predetermined selection of media content criteria that is used to search and determine the media content that is encoded and stored for subsequent use and/or sharing. In other aspects, the recorded broadcast media content is shared with other wireless communication devices by encoding the recorded/stored media content in a speech-format and communicating the speech-formatted media content to other wireless devices.

Abstract:
A method of customizing a wireless device to a predetermined configuration is described. A wireless device configured with at least one carrier-specific parameter for a first carrier is modified to access at least one carrier-specific parameter for a second carrier during operation of the wireless device and responsive to a predetermined network switch input received by the wireless device. A carrier customization module system for a wireless device includes a carrier customization module loader executed by the wireless device which is configured with at least one carrier-specific parameter for a first carrier. The loader selects at least one carrier-specific parameter for a second carrier from among one or more carrier-specific parameters during operation of the wireless device and responsive to a predetermined network switch input received by the wireless device. The loader modifies the wireless device to access the second carrier using the selected carrier-specific parameter for the second carrier.
