The present invention provides a signal processing system and a method for performing the processing of information therewith. This signal processing system is designed for use with a sensing system, in which an encoded signal is directed to a test sample, and the resultant signals are collected and correlated with the encoded signal, thereby enabling the detection of a test samples response to the transmitted signals, wherein this may enable an understanding of the test sample to be determined. The signal processing system provides control signals to the sensing system in order to control both the format of signals being transmitted to a test sample and detection of signals received from a test sample resulting from this transmission and the subsequent correlation therebetween. By controlling both the transmitted and detected signals, the signal processing system can correlate this information in order to improve the detection capability, thereby providing an improved means of analysing a test sample.

The present invention provides an optical system comprises a scanning spectrometer incorporating an electronic light modulator and digital signal processing means. The spectrometer technique combined with optical signal encoding provides the ability to obtain spectral signatures and identify optical patterns of biological tissue. One example of biological tissue scanning includes techniques such as identification of optical patterns of normal and abnormal tissues in addition to the delineation of these spectral patterns between the abnormal and normal tissue. Due to an enhanced signal-to-noise ratio provided by the optical system according to the present invention, this optical system can detect patterns in biological tissue that may be more subtle than those patterns that would be possible to obtain with currently available optical systems.

La invencion presente proporciona un sistema de procesamiento de senal y un metodo para llevar a cabo el procesamiento de la informacion con este. El sistema de procesamiento de senal esta disenado para utilizarse con un sistema de deteccion, en el cual se dirige una senal codificada hacia una muestra de prueba, y las senales resultantes son recolectadas y correlacionadas con la senal codificada, permitiendo de esta manera la deteccion una muestra de prueba en respuesta a las senales transmitidas, en donde esto puede permitir un entendimiento de la muestra de prueba a ser determinada. El sistema de procesamiento de senal proporciona el control de las senales para el sistema de deteccion a fin de controlar tanto el formato de las senales que se transmiten hacia una muestra de prueba como la deteccion de las senales recibidas desde una muestra de prueba que resulta de esta transmision y la correlacion posterior entre ellas. Al controlar tanto las senales transmitidas como detectadas, el sistema de procesamiento de senal puede correlacionar esta informacion a fin de mejorar la capacidad de deteccion, proporcionando de esta manera un medio mejorado de analizar una muestra de prueba.

The optical system comprises a photonic energy source, an optical emission processing system, a received light optical processing system, an optical detector and a digital signal processing system. The optical emission processing system transmits one or more illumination wavelengths to a test sample. The received light optical processing system collects and isolates one or more wavelengths received from the test sample and transmits them to an optical detector. The optical detector converts the isolated one or more wavelengths of received electromagnetic radiation into an electrical signal which is transmitted to the digital signal processing system. The digital signal processing system performs matched filtering of the electrical signal received from the optical detector and additionally controls the functionality of the photonic energy source, the optical emission processing system and the received light optical processing system.

The present invention provides a system enabling the remote analysis of a fluid, wherein the analysis of the fluid and collection of data relating thereto can be provided at a plurality of remote locations by a plurality of remote devices. Each remote device is connected directly or indirectly to a central controller via one or more communication networks, thereby enabling centralised collection, evaluation and analysis of a plurality of data relating to characteristics of the fluid system being monitored. The system according to the present invention can further provide a means for the collection of strategic samples of fluid, for example, such that these samples can be collected from one or more of the remote locations at a later time for future and more detailed analysis at a laboratory or other facility. The fluid monitoring system provides a means for real time monitoring of a fluid at a plurality of locations together with a global view of the characteristics of a fluid system. In one embodiment of the invention, this fluid monitoring system can provide information and risk factors relating to real time change in the characteristics of a fluid and the fluid system.

Cada dispositivo remoto esta conectado directa o indirectamente a un controlador central a traves de una o mas redes de comunicacion, permitiendo de esta manera la recoleccion, evaluacion y analisis centralizado de una pluralidad de datos relativos a las caracteristicas del sistema de fluido que se monitorea. El sistema de acuerdo con la invencion presente puede ademas proporcionar un medio para la recoleccion de muestras estrategicas de fluido, por ejemplo, de manera tal que estas muestras puedan ser recolectadas desde uno o mas sitios remotos en un momento posterior para analisis futuro y mas detallado en un laboratorio u otra instalacion.
