Abstract: 430,928. Water-tube hot-water boilers. DAVISON, J., White House Farm, Bishopton Road, Stockton-on-Tees. Jan. 10, 1934, No. 894. [Class 64 (i)] Water - tube boilers made up of units each consisting of two or more vertical or inclined tubes a and the units being connected together by headers c at each end of the tubes have the readily detachable connections f between a header and a unit in alignment transversely of the tubes with the connections b between the tubes themselves, these connections which are of less diameter than the tubes providing a direct passage for a cleaning member. In a modification a single tube in which reducing nipples connected to the unit tube ends are disposed replaces the connections and is of less diameter than the unit tubes. The unit-header connections f, shown as of flanged type, may also comprise screwed couplings, &c. A plugged boss g is located in the end unit tube remote from the headers in alignment with the connections b at each end, or alternatively headers may be provided. According to the Provisional Specification the tubes may be horizontal. Specifications 21081/01, [Class 123], and 19630/10, [Class 123 (ii)], are referred to.

Abstract: The front layer 2 of a decorative mirror is a mirror panel which incorporates a pattern 14 formed by sand blasting away the silver coating 10 in regions not protected by an adhesive vinyl sheet mask (16, figure 2). A second rear mirror panel 4 is joined to the front layer by means of double sided adhesive tape 19 to form cavity 6 into which one or more coloured resins 8 are introduced. Alternatively, a clear resin containing small objects such as leaves (24, figure 6) may be used. Small light sources (28, figure 8) may also be included near the periphery. The pattern 14 may be created using a photosensitive resin to form a mask. One or both panels 2,4 may be non-reflective to create a layered decorative transparent or translucent object.

Thrust bearings.-In a thrust bearing provided with pivoted pressure blocks, each block 4 has a dovetailed stem 5 engaging an annular groove of similar section in a supporting-ring 1 A gap provided at one part of the ring for the insertion of the stems is closed by a dovetailed filling-piece 6, formed with a stop 7 to prevent the blocks from moving along the groove. Each stem 5 is convex at its bearing- point 9. Instead of having a gap and fitting-piece, the ring 1 may be made in two parts bolted together.

Abstract: A method, system and computer program product are provided for increasing the level of protection for data in a redundant storage system. A non-catastrophic error in a component in a redundant storage system is detected. Then, data exposed by the non-catastrophic error is identified and unallocated space in a storage device which is not exposed to the non-catastrophic error is reserved. The exposed data is then migrated from its original storage space to the reserved storage space. Even though it may take a number of hours for recovery of the system to be completed, data is less exposed to the risk of a second failure occurring before the first can be repaired.
