Abstract: Failover of network nodes is disclosed. A first node joins a multicast group (102). The joining is performed by performing one of three actions (104). First, a failover address is associated with the first node, and the first node effectively joins the group having this address as a multicast address. Second, a multicast address is associated with the first node. Third, a switch' s multicast port is mapped to a first node port. Upon failure of the first node (106), one of three actions is performed. If the joining associated the failover address, this is associated with a second node, and the second node effectively joins the group (114). If the joining associated the multicast address, the second node joins the group and this address is associated with the second node (110). If the joining mapped the switch's multicast port, this port is remapped to a second node port (112).

Abstract: A network endpoint system and related method and computer program product for use in a network to support enhanced end-to-end QoS in the network. The network endpoint system is adapted to receive network data of varying priority on behalf of a data consumer operating at the application layer of a network protocol stack implemented by the network endpoint system. The network endpoint system includes a network interface controller adapted to receive network frames containing the network data, plural network data handling channels each having an associated priority, and priority processing logic adapted to transfer the network data from the network interface controller to the plural data handling channels on a prioritized basis according to the network data priority. Also disclosed are a network interface controller and a network node to support enhanced end-to-end QoS in a network.

Abstract: A grid manager manages numerous submissions of a job request in view of maintaining a high degree of performance continuity in the execution of the numerous submissions of the job request by one or more job handlers. To this end, the grid manager receives an initial submission of the job request specifying one or more resource selection parameters, and selects one or more job handlers for executing the initial submission of the job request based on the specified resource selection parameter(s).
