Abstract: 292,179. Davis, K. Dec. 13, 1926. Drawings to Specification. Pneumatic separating.-Apparatus for separating divided materials, of the type in which the materials are caused to move differentially over an air pervious table by the combined action of vibrations imparted to the table and an upwardly acting air pressure, is adapted to deal with un. sized materials by providing on the table a number of zones, corresponding to the number of size ranges in which the material is to be treated, in which the lifting-power of the air pressure is decreased in the direction of flow of the materials and which have areas proportionate to the percentage of impurities in the corresponding size ranges. The invention is shown applied to apparatus as described in Specifications 222,185, 322,186, and 287,184. The zones may be disposed symmetrically on either side of the central line of the table and may conform generally to the position and direction of the separating partitions. A numerical example of the method of carrying the invention into effect is given, and the areas of the different zones are made proportionate to the sum of the percentages of impurities in each size range, the percentage of such size range in the mass of material and an additional marginal percentage to account for imperfect separation in preceding zones.

Abstract: 307,978. Davis, K. Oct. 13, 1927. Divided on 292,179. Pneumatic separating. - In apparatus for separating intermixed divided materials according to density of the type comprising a separating table which is pervious to air and on which the materials are simultaneously subjected to the vibrating action of the table and the upward pressure of air, the air perviousness of the table is varied over its surface in such a manner that the lifting power of the air decreases in the direction of movement of both the heavier and the lighter materials. The invention is described as applied to a table of the shape shown in Fig. 1, comprising inwardly and forwardly inclined separa.- ting partitions 20 leaving an unobstructed central passage 21 for the movement of the heaviest material, such as stone when the apparatus is used for cleaning coal. The table is divided into zones A - - D, which are shaped so as to conform generally to the direction or position of the separating partitions, and in which the lifting power of the air decreases successively by diminishing either the number or size of the perforations. Preferably in the neighbourhood of the discharge 41 for the heavy materials, the air pressure is increased as indicated at B, C, and the zones are arranged symmetrically at opposite sides of the central line of the table. In the construction of apparatus described, the forward discharge end of the table consists of a passage 30, Fig. 4, with air pervious sides, top and bottom and enclosed in a casing 39 the forward end of which has a discharge opening controlled by a pivoted and weighted gate 41. The outside separating partitions 13, 14 are preferably increased in height in a forward direction as shown at 13a, 14 . As shown in Fig. 5, the table is supported from the air chamber by pivoted arms 50, 51. It is moved in one direction by the snail cam 59 and returned by springs 54, stops 55, 56 being provided to produce a jarring impact at the end of the return movement.

Press-button switches. - The switch contacts 318 - - 321 of four solenoids (not shown) are controlled by a single universally-movable handle 297, the contacts being connected by brushes 334 to conducting rings 335 on an extension of a spring cable-drum 331, the cable 336 from which leads to the machine to be controlled.. By suitably rocking or twisting the handle 297 the contacts may be closed in pairs or singly, but the contacts are so situated that two conflicting operations cannot be performed simultaneously. Abstract: 608,439. Universal joints. DAVIS, K. Feb. 23, 1946, No. 5692. [Class 80 (ii)] In a drive coupling which allows angular and longitudinal mal-alignment between two shafts, a pair of hubs 1 secured to the shafts have apertured flanges 2 on their adjacent inner ends. A U-shaped bearing 6-mounted in each recess 3 supports a transverse rib 11 of a longitudinal block 10 which carries a cylindrical key 15. A ring 13 encircles the assembly and has annular plates 16 bolted on its ends. An oil duct 19 is formed in the ring 13 and oil seals 18 are provided. In operation, the bearings 6 oscillate slightly in the seats 3, and the blocks 10 rock slightly on the fulcrums 11 to permit sufficient angular and longitudinal mal-alignment of the sleeves 1 to occur.

Abstract: A system for watering an electrolyte or lead acid battery in which the cumulative amount of water added during each filling event is determined by detecting the amount of water passing from a supply hose to the battery. A fluid dispensing member, such as a direct fill link or nozzle, can be attached to and detached from a single point watering subsystem. A flow detector, such as a flow meter, in fluid communication with the fluid dispensing member can wirelessly output the cumulative water added to specific batteries to an interactive computer application, which can include a wireless component such as a smartphone or tablet communicating with a remotely located interactive database.

Abstract: A projectile fuel system has with a liquid fuel tank, a liquid oxygen tank, a first turbine, and a second turbine. A combining device merges a first carbon dioxide exhaust with the second supercritical carbon dioxide exhaust to form a first heated supercritical carbon dioxide. A control valve proportions the first portion of heated supercritical carbon dioxide and the second portion of heated supercritical carbon dioxide to each of the first turbine and the second turbine, adjust total flow rate both of the first portion of heated supercritical carbon dioxide and the second portion of heated supercritical carbon dioxide and adjust the total flow of supercritical carbon dioxide from a jacket.

Abstract: The present invention provides a system for presenting media content. A user device (such as a personal computer, tablet, or smart phone) receives media elements from a media repository. The media repository may be remote. The device displays references associated with the media elements in a display area. The device outputs media content (e.g., music or video) associated with each of the media elements for a limited duration (e.g., 30 seconds). While outputting, the references displayed in the display area are scrolled. The display area may be provided as a 3D drum.
