A machine for testing anchors (two anchors 13 coupled by a shackle 14 for testing simultaneously or one anchor coupled to a dummy) incorporates a rectangular frame 1, two slides 6, 7 mounted in the frame at the same level and movable longitudinally of the frame, and at least one fluid-pressure cylinder 11 disposed between the slides and operable to apply a thrust in opposite directions to the adjacent ends of both slides, the other ends of which present abutments 12 engageable with the flukes of the anchors.

[Also in Division B8] A chain stop comprises a split hook having two shank elements 1, 2, each welded along a side face of one end portion to a respective opposite face of a flat plate 5 formed with an eye 6, -so that there is a gap 7 between the remaining portions of the elements 1, 2. The latter portions have ends 8, 9 of relatively greater thickness and have machined notches 10 which together present a pocket arranged to receive the end of a link of a chain which will bridge the gap 7. Alternatively, the shank portions 1, 2 may be formed of plate all of one thickness, the ends remote from the eye 6 being bent back on themselves to form two hooks constituting the pocket.

In an anchor of the type first disclosed in Specification 415,176, incorporating a fluke arm 2 and a shank 1, the fluke arm presenting two pintles 3 engaging sockets 4 in the shank, the pintles 3 are solid with the fluke arm 2. The arm and the pintles may be formed integrally with one another or the fluke arm be cast around a pin, the ends of which project to form pintles. The fluke arm and the shank may be formed with abutments engageable with one another to limit the angle through which the fluke arm can swing relative to the shank. The shank may be of I-section.

[Class 24] An anchor shackle comprises a plug 1 the body portion 2 of which is a solid of revolution to which is attached a ring 3 attachable to an end link of a chain, a split socket 4 mating with the body of the plug and formed on its exterior with the male element 5 of a bayonet joint the female element 7 of which is formed on the interior of a hollow holder 6 having two legs 8 joined by a shackle pin 9, and a withdrawable locking pin 10 passing transversely through the holder 6 and engaging a transverse notch in the end of the split socket 4. The shackle can be rotated around its axis since the plug body 2 is a solid of revolution.
