Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a yet-to-be-reacted curable binder solution virtually free from formaldehyde used for binding mutually phobic substances.SOLUTION: The binder provided by the present invention may, for example, target glass wool or stone wool insulators, etc. The yet-to-be-reacted curable binder solution virtually free from formaldehyde virtually comprises a solution obtained by dissolving, into water, a reduced saccharide, an acidic precursor of an ammonium salt, a carboxylic acid or precursor thereof as an optional component, and ammonia as an optional component. The binder solution used in compliance with the present invention may be "virtually free from formaldehyde," which is to say that less than 5 ppm of formaldehyde may be liberated from the binder solution as a result of the drying and/or curing thereof (or of an appropriate test for simulating drying and/or curing).
