PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for protecting contents in which computational complexity required for encryption and decryption is decreased by encrypting only data for each encoded layer for video encoded contents. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a content protection method in a video encoded content providing system in which contents are encrypted and provided, including the steps of: acquiring contents; storing contents in an archive and performing control to generate authentication performance and an encryption key to be transferred to a user; generating the authentication performance and the encryption key; capturing video and encoding the video for contents; performing encryption using the generated encryption key for the contents; generating information metadata for video encoded contents; and transmitting the video encoded contents and the generated information metadata to a terminal via a network or the like. An additional information insertion apparatus for a broadcasting system includes: a broadcasting signal transmitter configured to transmit a broadcasting signal; a data extractor configured to extract a modulated signal by dividing the modulated signal from a modulator of the broadcasting signal transmitter; an additional data generator configured to extract synchronization of the broadcasting signal from the extracted broadcasting signal, modulate the additional information based on the extracted synchronization, and generate a level of the modulated additional information to be a smaller level than a signal level of the modulated signal as much as a predetermined value; and a data synthesizer configured to insert the additional data from the data generator into the modulated broadcasting signal.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a movement estimating device for image encoding system which increases the efficiency of image encoding by extending the motion estimation range of a P picture. SOLUTION: In the movement estimation device and method for image encoding system which increases the efficiency of image encoding by extending the movement estimation range of a P picture by using a reverse movement estimating device used for the movement estimation of a B picture when a picture type is a P picture, the picture type of an image to be transmitted is determined; when the picture type is a P picture, a forward movement estimation and backward motion estimation module divides an estimation area and carries out forward movement estimation. Then two obtained moving vectors (1st forward moving vector and 2nd forward movement vector) are compared and the moving vector having a smaller movement error is determined to reduce the movement error of the P picture, thereby increasing the encoding efficiency.

Disclosed relates to an apparatus and method for storing content in a DMB system. The apparatus for storing content in DMB system includes an RF receiver to receive and demodulate broadcasting signals, an ensemble demultiplexer to extract Transport Streams (TSs) from the demodulated broadcasting signals, a TS demultiplexer to separately extract TSs including content and TSs including recording status information from the TSs extracted by the ensemble demultiplexer, a section processing unit to analyze the recording status information, a content storing unit to store the content, and a controlling unit to control storing of content for which recording is requested in the content storing unit through checking a start and an end of the recording-requested content in real time using the analyzed recording status information.

An inter-view balanced disparity estimation method and bit rate control method are disclosed. The disparity estimation method considers inter-vicw inconsistency, and comprises performing coding for a frame of a base GOP -which is a GOP including I- pictures- at a GGOP extending a GOP from a viewpoint axis; performing coding for a frame of at least one or more GOPB -which is a GOP including at least one or more P- pictures- using the base GOP; and performing coding by performing disparity estimation bidirectionally for a frame of GOPC -which is a GOP including B-pictures only- existing between the base GOP and the at least one or more GOPB using the base GOP and the GOPB. Meanwhile, to determine bit rate control, operations of determining the bit rate in units of GGOP, and determining bit rate in units of GOMV are included.

A multimedia contents service system transforms original contents based on selected user preferences chosen by a user or automatic preferences generated from accumulated statistics on user's contents consumption. The system transmits the transformed contents to the user and provides services which perform rendering or storing according to user preferences. Therefore, the system provides contents transformed according to user's interests to thereby increase user's convenience (universal multimedia access) and satisfy a variety of user's demands.

Disclosed are a device and a method for hierarchical broadcasting. In the hierarchical broadcasting method, a broadcasting transmission device transmits low-level broadcasting data for the existing broadcast to a broadcasting receiving device through a 1st communication network, and the broadcasting transmission device transmits high-level broadcasting data for the improved broadcast to the broadcasting receiving device through a 2nd communication network. At this point, the broadcasting receiving device can combine the low-level broadcasting data with the high-level broadcasting data to display the improved broadcast.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to video encoding and decoding methods for encoding a division block and decoding the division block and comprises the steps of: dividing an input screen into an encoding unit block; dividing the encoding unit block into a sub-block; encoding the sub-block by selectively using inter predictive coding and/or intra predictive coding. In addition, a decoding process can be performed through a reverse process of the encoding method. The invention improves the flexibility of selecting an encoding mode and then increases encoding efficiency during encoding of a pixel value of an encoding unit block in video encoding.
