Seats.-The bottoms 8 of seats for cars &c. are connected by hinges 10 to the frame or to the weatherboards 7, and are counterweighted by bent levers 12 and weights 13, so that, as the users rise, the bottoms turn up and are protected by the coping or rail 14. The seats may be drawn down again by knobs or handles 15, and are then supported by the rails 9 and hinges 10.
