Abstract:
In a process for the aqueous suspension polymerization of vinyl chloride, alone or in mixture with other monomers, in the presence of at least one of dialkylperoxydicarbonate, peroxyester and diacyl peroxide, the polymerization composition according to the invention comprises at least one dialkylhydroxylamine as a shortstopping agent along with a totally or partially hindered phenolic antioxidant.
Abstract:
The invention relates to isoascorbate anti-skinning agents and also relates to oxidatively drying paints or coating compositions containing isoascorbate material which acts as both an antiskinning agent and a metals dryer co-promoter.
Abstract:
Fuels containing biodiesel, petroleum distillates, or blends of these may be treated by the addition of small amounts of one or more alkanolamines according to formula (I) R n -N(CH 2 CHR 1 OH) 3-n ; wherein n is 1 or 2, R 1 is H or CH 3 , and each R is independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and branched, linear, and cyclic C3-C24 alkyl groups, provided that at least one R is not hydrogen. Fuels treated in this manner may be less corrosive toward metals with which they are in contact.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to acrylic block polymers, either block copolymers or homopolymers, synthesized by a controlled free-radical process, and their use as low temperature flow modifiers in bio-derived fuel compositions. They are especially useful in modifying the low temperature flow behavior in bio-derived fuels. The acrylic polymers are especially useful as cold filter plugging control additives in bio-derived fuels.
Abstract:
The invention is directed toward improved aqueous hard surface cleaning compositions which include one or more polysulfonic acids The inclusion of one or more polysulfonic acids in a hard surface composition provides for improved removal of insoluble salt deposits resulting from hard water In an embodiment, the invention utilizes a foaming agent fragrance and a thickening agent.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a coating material, paint or finish which contains as anti- skinning agents a combination of at least one organic and/or inorganic oxygen scavengers and a nitrogen-containing aromatic compound and also relates to compositions containing the combination, especially oxidatively drying paints or coating compositions and articles coated with such oxidatively drying paints or coating compositions.

Abstract:
An improved oxygen scavenger for aqueous mediums is disclosed which is a hydroxylamine in combination with a water soluble salt of manganese or vanadium, or esters of gallic acid. The addition of the water soluble salts of manganese or vanadium, or esters of gallic acid catalyzes the oxygen removal activity of the hydroxylamine. The combination of the present invention is particularly effective in industrial water systems such as boilers water or cooling water systems.
Abstract:
Methods for the electrolytic preparation of tin coated metals are disclosed. The methods comprise the use of an alkanol sulfonic acid electrolyte or a salt thereof, preferably isethionic acid (ISA) as the electrolyte in electroplating operations. An aqueous solution of an alkanol sulfonic acid and/or an alkanol sulfonic acid salt can be used as rinse or flux immediately preceding reflow. The methods of the invention produce plated material that is free of blue haze.
Abstract:
A stabilized alkyl ester fuel is disclosed. The stabilized alkyl ester fuel comprises alkyl esters, an effective amount of an alkylalkanolamine, and an effective amount of an alkylhydroxylamine. The alkyl ester fuel is stabilized to oxidative degradation of the alkyl esters of unsaturated fatty acids found in alkyl ester fuels.
