    Abstract: A mobile telecommunications system allows the set up of flexible groups within defined locations e.g. an area covered by a cell having a base station. When a mobile station MS enters the location and attempts registration, it is assigned a location specific group identification code 308, which is transmitted and received 310 by the MS. The mobile station stores the code in its scan list and thereafter monitors the appropriate signalling channel for the presence of the code as part of a paging address. On receipt of the code 314 the MS is enabled to join the location specific group call 318. The invention allows the setting up of groups within specified areas, without the use of area defining fields in the communications protocol, these not being standardised amongst different providers. Further the setting up of the groups does not require expensive reprogramming of the mobile stations on changing groups. The invention can be applied to TETRA, UMTS or other third generation communication systems. The mobile units may be any kind of radio device, e.g. mobile phone, PDA or wireless connected computers.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To prevent remaining aluminum form being stained after photoresist is removed in an asher by etching a resist in an oxygen gas plasma at 9 specific temperature. CONSTITUTION: This photoresist 20 is removed from a metallic layer 16, which is formed on a substrate 10 and has a pattern prescribed with a corrosive gas plasma. In this case, the resist 20 is etched in the oxygen glass plasma for a certain time at a temperature which is high enough to remove all the remaining corrosive gas absorbed into the photoresist 20 and lower than the temperature at which a metal 16 begins to reflow. For example, a thin film 14 of titanium nitride, a layer 16 of aluminum, and a layer 18 of titanium nitride which are formed on a oxide layer 12 on a silicon substrate 10 are etched in a chlorine gas plasma, by using the photoresist 20 as a mask. Then etching is carried on in an oxygen plasma at 300 deg.C for three minutes, to remove the resist 20.
