Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a functional polymer having a pressure-sensitive coloring matter, pressure-sensitive paint and pressure-sensitive element which can prevent deterioration of photoresponse due to aggregation of coloring matter when an organic solvent is evaporated and produce a sensor thin film having uniform characteristics. SOLUTION: Since an oxygen extinction coloring matter group included in a pressure-sensitive coloring matter directly bonds with an organic polymer compound having a trimethylsilyl group by a covalent bond, when the solvent is evaporated, the coloring matter cannot form aggregation because molecules of the coloring matter are fixed with the polymer. Therefore, deterioration of photoresponse due to aggregation of coloring matter when an organic solvent is evaporated can be prevented, which is a problem when applying a conventional mix-type pressure-sensitive paint. By mixing a functional polymer with a solvent to prepare a pressure-sensitive paint, a sensor thin film having uniform characteristics can be formed with spray coating or spread coating. In addition, by dissolving a single component into an adequate solvent, a coating liquid suitable for spray coating and spread coating can be obtained with high repeatability. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system capable of easily adjusting a laser irradiation position to a propellant without receiving restrictions of a positional relation with a laser source for laser transmission and an installation place of a member in a laser propulsion system provided with advantageous conditions as a thrust generator used in a space structure. SOLUTION: A laser thruster system is composed of a laser oscillator, a flexible optical cable transmitting laser from the laser oscillator to a desired section, and a plasma injection device installed in a desired section. The plasma injection device has a simple structure having no movable part constituted of an injection nozzle having a megaphone shape, a condensing lens provided in a mouth application part of the nozzle, and a solid propellant storage part provided continuously behind the mouth application part. Moreover, the system is mounted in a space structure and a plurality of plasma injection devices are arranged to obtain a large propulsion force, and are arranged in desired sections to control an attitude and position in a desired direction.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wind tunnel model dispensing with mark formation on each model and both calibration tests of a sensor and a magnetic force, by forming a mark to be provided inside the model on another body than a contour body in order to measure the position or the attitude of the model from the outside in a wind tunnel test of a magnetic force support type. SOLUTION: This wind tunnel model 1 for magnetic force support is equipped with the contour body 2 made of a transparent resin and formed to have a thin shell shape, and a mark body 3 installed inside the contour body 2 and having the mark 5 optically detectable through the contour body 2. The mark body 3 can be constituted by putting the mark 5 on the surface of a magnet body 4 performing magnetic interaction with lines of the magnetic force of a magnetic force support balance device provided in the wind tunnel. By constituting the mark body 3 separately from the contour body 2, the mark 5 formation on each model and the calibration tests on the sensor and the magnetic force can be omitted, and the wind tunnel model 1 can be manufactured at low cost and the wind tunnel test can be performed efficiently both in time and in cost system 5 of the light receiving element 6.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small, lightweight, easily-handleable, and high- performance fiber fracture detection type stress measurement sensor. SOLUTION: When continuous fibers of silicon carbide based fiber are subjected to oxidation treatment in the air, an oxide coating is formed on the surface. Heat difference treatment or chemical treatment is applied for regulating the strength distribution of a single filament. A continuous fiber bundle 2 obtained in this way is arranged in one direction, and the continuous fiber bundle is integrated/combined to be molded with a base material such as a fiber reinforcing composite material serving as an insulating material, resin, metal or ceramic. When electrodes are attached to the obtained one directional composite member, a stress measurement sensor 1 is formed. In the silicon carbide based fiber, electric resistance is increased even before its fracture according to an increase in the stress, and in a low stress area, a gentle increase of the electric resistance fluctuation ratio is observed. However, the electric resistance fluctuation ratio is increased greatly once the fracture is started in the fiber.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data processing method that can detect dark debris without interference by background noise in a fixed star tracking mode suitable to a wide-ranging observation. SOLUTION: For an arbitrary point P0 on an image, a point P1 where an object of observation point-imaged at an exposure start time is imaged at an exposure end time is computed, and an image output on a line joining the points P0 to P1 on image data is added. This process is carried out for every point in the image. Before the addition of the image data on the line joining the points P0 to P1, a level of noise is determined, and a high-density image of a celestial body in the image data is replaced with the noise level to erase the star image. The noise level may be determined through the computation of a peak value of a histogram of data on the processed region of the image.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a moving celestial body which is dark to an almost undetectable degree in the observed image of one frame by removing a large quantity of fixed star images which hinder detection. SOLUTION: Images 2-1 to 2-3 of an area, suited to operation of the moving celestial body, are respectively cut off from images 1-1 to 1-3 of plural frames imaged at specific time intervals. Next, a central value image 3-1 is made by taking a central value on the same pixel of the whole cutoff images 2-1 to 2-3. Influence of the fixed stars moving on the cutoff images is removed by taking the central value, and only the moving celestial body can be left. An average value image is made, by using the obtained central value image by plural frame for increasing a detection limit, and the dark moving celestial body undetectable in the observing image of the one frame is extracted.
