The present invention relates to a method of reducing interference in a communication system supporting multiple radio channel communication scheme and wherein a communication link can be established between a transmitter and a receiver. In the method the transmitter first determines (301 ) interference level at the transmitter, and then based on the determined interference level, performs link adaptation, wherein the link adaptation comprises applying (307) channel bundling for adapting the communication link so as to transmit simultaneously on at least two radio channels from the transmitter to the receiver.

A system and method is provided for a station, mobile station or otherwise, in a MC- CDMA based WLAN, CDMA based, or other multichannel wireless system, to dynamically decide to transmit in parallel with current transmissions or to select another frequency channel in the communication system. An exemplary device is well suited for wireless systems based on CDMA using a MUD. The system and method provide a means for estimating the interference of signals on the same frequency channel as determined by the MUD. Individual stations in the system can decide, in a distributed manner, if they should divert their communication link to another frequency channel, or to continue on the same frequency channel in parallel to the current communication links.

A mobile station for a multi-channel based communications network comprises a receiving and sending unit (2) and a control unit (4) for controlling the receiving and sending unit (2). Thereby, after transmission of information to a succeeding mobile station, a guard interval (8) is included, during which no further information is sent to the succeeding mobile station to enable transmission of the information from the succeeding mobile station to further mobile stations. Therewith, the utilization of the communications network is optimized and the overall throughput is increased.

This invention provides a method for dynamically adjusting the transmitter power (P TX ) and data rate in a communications system. The scheme is specifically intended for wireless systems based on Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) or on Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) technology, but can be applied to all systems in which a so-called "Multi-User Detector" can be used. The method includes that the decision whether to increase or decrease the transmitter power (P TX ) is based on the Signal to Interference plus Noise Ratio (SINR) at the receiver (S2), whereby the receiver (S2) determines the interference (P IF ) with a Multi-User Detector. The interference level (P IF ) is then communicated to the sender (Sl) or alternatively the receiver (S2) determines the optimal transmitter power level (P TX ) and communicates this level to the sender (Sl). The proposed method reduces the power consumption and increases the performance e.g. in CDMA based systems.

The subnets of a radio network are separated by different scrambling codes. A signalling frame comprises information concerning the spreading code used on the neighbouring or second subnet which can therefore be reserved for a multi hop connection in the first subnet as well. Therefore, in the easiest case the forwarding device only needs to change the scrambling code of the data flow to that of the following subnet and can keep the same spreading code.
