Abstract: PURPOSE: To increase pressure delivered by a pump and its delivering capacity by providing a means for pressuring inside of a pump bellows from inside, in a bellows pump in which a central driving portion alternately operates a pair of delivering portions arranged on its both sides. CONSTITUTION: In this double-acting bellows pump 10 having a central driving portion 11 and delivering portions 12, 12' arranged on its both sides, the central driving portion 11 is constituted by providing a driving piston 15 in a housing portion 13. The delivering portions 12, 12' are alternately operated by controlling charge/discharge of fluid for pressure chambers 16, 16' partitioned on the both sides of this driving piston 15 by means of a valve assembly 18. The delivering portion 12 (12') is constituted by providing a delivery bellows 31 in a pressure chamber of a pump head 22, and is linked with the end of a piston rod 21. The delivery bellows 31 is integrally formed from plastic material, and a plurality of annular coils 44 positioned adjacently to the axial direction are provided on an axially contractible sleeve-shaped side wall 34.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To facilitate the assembly and disassembly of a closure assembly, which is constituted to allow the selective and free fixation of an end cap to an annular adapter by the cooperative action of the first connection member of this adapter and the second connection member of the end cap, by connecting this closure assembly to one end of a filtration housing. CONSTITUTION: A cross flow filtration element 12 having a cross flow filtration medium and a central filtrate tube 16 is disposed within an elongated filtration element housing. The closure assembly connected to one end of this housing 11 consists of the annular adapter 14 and the end cap 15. The second connection member of the end cap 15 and the first connection member of the annular adapter 14 act cooperatively via the engagement of the lug and recessed part thereof, thereby selectively fixing the end cap 15 to the adapter 14. The spacing between both 14 and 15 is sealed by a sealing member (O-ring) 50 at the time of this fixing.

Abstract: Whey separated from milk curd during the manufacture of cheese is processed for human consumption by heating the whey to a temperature of 162*F and holding it at this temperature for 16 seconds, cooling the whey to a temperature under 90*F, separating protein from the whey, and chilling the protein to a temperature under 40*F. The heating, holding, and cooling are carried out in under 30 seconds. The protein separation is carried out by passing the whey through a series of membrane banks. Each bank has a manifold arranged for receiving whey under pressure, and a plurality of filters connected to and arranged in communication with the manifold for permitting the whey received from the manifold to seek its own flow in the filters. Each filter has a plurality of spiral-wound membrane modules arranged serially in a pressure vessel for fractionating the whey.

Abstract: A new non-woven depth filter cartridge is formed by insertion of a core into filter mass formed in a continuous process. A mass of very fine diameter polymer filaments is overlaid by mass of larger diameter polymer filaments. Abstract: A method of continuously producing a melt-blown polymer filament mass includes producing a first set of melt-blown polymeric filaments, collecting the first set of filaments on a rotating collection device to form a tubular filament mass having a plurality of layers, and applying a second set of melt-blown polymeric filaments to the filament mass. The first set is produced generally in-line along an axis generally parallel to the collection device.
