A people mover, such as a travelator, moving ramp or escalator, comprising a conveyor (1). The conveyor comprises a frame (6), which comprises a first frame part (7), which is secured to a fixed structure, and a second frame part (8), which is mounted to be movable in relation to the first frame part in its longitudinal direction, said first and second frame parts being arranged one after the other. Transport platforms (11) are secured to a first drive element (9) and a second drive element (10), said drive elements being endless elements. A first tensioning device (16) tensions the first drive element (9) and a second tensioning device (17) tensions the second drive element (10), and each tensioning device acts between the first frame part (7) and the second frame part (8). The conveyor (1) comprises mechanical transmission elements (18) between the first tensioning device (16) and the second tensioning device (17) for keeping the stroke lengths of the first and the second tensioning movements equal.

The invention relates to a pallet arrangement for a travelator or equivalent, in which arrangement a pallet (1) moving on wheels (3) forms part of the track and which pallet consists of at least a pallet body (2) and at least one surfacing element (5) attached to the body (2). The surfacing element (5) is fastened to the body (2) of the pallet (1) by means of one or more coupling elements (8) provided at least in the surfacing element (5) and a shape-locking groove (10) provided in the body (2) as well as a locking element (13, 14) so that in the locking operation the locking movement and in the releasing operation the releasing movement has been arranged to act on all the coupling elements (8) in the shape-locking groove (10) substantially simultaneously.

The invention relates to an arrangement for the placement of the drive machine (4) of a people mover, such as a transport conveyor or equivalent, said drive machine (4) comprising actuating elements at least for moving the pallet track (3) or equivalent and the hand rail (2) of the people mover. The drive machine (4) is placed substantially above the base supporting the transport conveyor and it can be placed either completely or partly inside the casing of the hand rail (2) of the people mover.

Es ist eine Antriebskette (10) aus gegeneinander beweglichen Kettengliedern aus Laschenpaaren (4, 5), insbesondere zum Antrieb von Stufen einer Rolltreppe oder Paletten eines Rollsteiges beschrieben. Die Kette hat einen Kettenbolzen (1), der ein Paar Laschen miteinander verbindet und eine Hülse (2) beweglich durchgreifend angeordnet ist, die eine drehbare Schonrolle (7) trägt. Zwischen der Hülse und der Schonrolle ist eine Gleitbuchse (3) eingespannt, die ein freies Spiel zwischen der Hülse und der Schonrolle vermeidet. Vorzugsweise ist die Gleitbuchse so gestaltet, dass sie abschnittsweise an der Hülse und abschnittsweise an der Schonrolle anliegt. Travelator, which comprises a frame (2) installed on top of a fixed base (1), such as the floor or other support, a conveyor (3), which is supported on the frame (1), an electrical power unit (4) for driving the conveyor, an entry ramp and/or departure ramp (5, 6) or similar, which forms a walking surface and which is arranged on top of a fixed base, such as the floor or other support, in the conveying direction of the conveyor before the conveyor and/or likewise after the conveyor, and electrical devices (7, 8, 9). The entry ramp and/or departure ramp (5, 6) or similar comprises a frame casing (10), in which is a hollow interior space (11), into which the electrical devices (7, 8, 9) of the travelator are placed. For servicing the electrical equipment the travelator is stopped and closed to traffic; the entry ramp and/or departure ramp, which contains the electrical equipment requiring servicing, is detached from the travelator; a new or serviced entry ramp and/or departure ramp is connected to the travelator; the entry ramp and/or departure ramp requiring servicing is transported away from the travelator for servicing at the servicing site; and the travelator is started and opened to traffic.

The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for changing the direction of motion of a pallet (1) moving on wheels (5a, 5b, 6a, 6b) in a travelator or equivalent, in which travelator or equivalent the pallets moving in the traveling direction move at a different level than the pallets moving in the return direction and the direction of motion of the pallets is changed at the end of the travelator or equivalent keeping the pallet continuously in substantially the same orientation during the direction change. During direction change the trailing end of the pallet (1) as seen in the traveling direction is guided by positive control from one level of the traveling direction to the other level by utilizing a supporting element (8) supporting the pallet by a wheel of the pallet, said supporting element (8) being positioned by means of a positioning device (26) into an advantageous position for meeting the wheel of the pallet.

The present invention relates to an arrangement in the drive machinery of a travelator, moving walkway, escalator or similar and a method for changing the drive belt of the handrail belt of the handrail incorporated in a travelator or similar. In addition to the drive machinery (1), the travelator or similar of the invention comprises at least one handrail (13) with handrail belt (12), and which drive machinery (1) comprises at least a drive motor (2), a support element (10) for the handrail belt (12) and a drive belt (8) connecting the rotational movement of the drive motor (2) to the support element (10). The support element is a supporting wheel (10) of essentially large diameter fitted to be used by the drive belt (8). With the method according to the invention the drive belt (8) is placed into position by fixing the drive belt (8) to the installation groove (14) on the supporting wheel (10) and rotating the supporting wheel (10) such that the drive belt (8) is placed into position around the supporting wheel (10). The support element of the handrail belt (12) of the handrail (13) of the travelator, moving walkway, escalator or similar according to the invention is a supporting wheel (10), which contains a coupling element (14) for coupling and installing the drive belt (8) of the supporting wheel (10) onto the rim of the supporting wheel in connection with placing the drive belt (8) into position.
