Abstract:
A modular measurement device is provided for quickly and accurately performing non-contact measurements of various objects at different locations within a commercial or residential work area. The modular measurement device generally includes a laser base that is operable to project light onto a measured object; and a portable measurement module adapted to receive light reflected from a surface of the measured object and operable to determine dimensional measurement data for the measured object, where the portable measurement module is configured to releasably couple to the laser base. The operational components of the measurement device are partitioned between the portable measurement module and the laser base. In this way, a single portable measurement module having more expensive operational components may be used with different, less expensive laser bases, where each laser base may be adapted for a different application.

Abstract:
A structured light sensor system for measuring contour of a surface includes an imaging lens system, an image capturing device, a first set of micro electro-mechanical system (MEMS) mirrors, and a control module. The imaging lens system focuses light reflected from the surface, wherein the imaging lens system has a corresponding lens plane. The image capturing device captures the focused light and generates data corresponding to the captured light, wherein the image capturing device has a corresponding image plane that is not parallel to the lens plane. The first set of MEMS mirrors direct the focused light to the image capturing device. The control module receives the data, determines a quality of focus of the captured light based on the received data, and controls the first set of MEMS mirrors based on the quality of focus to maintain a Scheimpflug tilt condition between the lens plane and the image plane.
Abstract:
An integrated solid state device for viewing and manipulating objects located in remote sites and locations which includes a flexible cable having a camera on one end and a viewer on an opposite end. The camera captures images near the end of the flexible cable and converts the images into a video signal that is transferred through wires that extend through the length of the flexible cable. The video signals are received by the viewer and converted into a displayed image. Objects are manipulated by a gripper that is provided at the end of the flexible cable that includes the camera. Operation of the gripper is controlled at the opposite end of the flexible cable. A variety of removable/interchangeable article manipulators can be attached to the distal end of the flexible cable and used to manipulate, capture and retrieve articles and objects near the distal end of the flexible cable.
Abstract:
A laser leveler includes a first member and a second member moveably attached to the first member and adapted to settle into a predetermined orientation with respect to a gravity vector. A transmissive optical component (34) is non-moveably attached to the second member (36) and operable to form an impinging laser beam into a substantially two-dimensional plane of a laser plane. A Source of laser light (32) is non-moveably attached to the second member (36) and non-moveably disposed to ensure an emitted laser beam impinges said optical component.

An integrated solid state device for viewing and manipulating objects located in remote sites and locations which includes a flexible cable (1) having a camera (8) on one end and a viewer (13) on an opposite end. The camera captures images near the end of the flexible cable (1) and converts the images into a video signal that is transferred through wires (15) that extend through the length of the flexible cable (1). The video signals are received by the viewer (13) and converted into a displayed image. A variety of removable article manipulators (6) can be attached to the distal end of the flexible cable (1) and used to manipulate, capture and retrieve articles and objects near the distal end of the flexible cable (1).
