Abstract: A moire pattern, similar to contour lines on a graphical map, is formed by a pair of projectors having slides containing vertical, parallel lines--black and white, imaging arrays of light and dark lines. When projectors are spaced apart and angled with respect to each other, an interference pattern, the moire pattern, forms lines of darkness and of light at regular spacings along the projections thereof. When projected upon an object, as an individual, the result is a contour pattern, which may then be photographed. An apparatus to carry a pair of projectors and a camera permits the pattern to be precisely formed for reproducible results with the camera.

An arrangement is provided for varying the roller pressure, and each roller has a circumferential central groove provided for straddling the spinal column and applying the massaging and manipulating pressure and microimpacts to the areas on both sides of the spine. Means are arranged to move the carriage and roller drum in a reciprocating motion with respect to the rectangular opening and to maintain a relatively constant massaging and manipulating pressure against the body regardless of the changes in contour of the body.

Abstract: Inventors: Gordon Dale Heuser and Rolla John Pennell Title: A CONTROL TO LIMIT THE RECIPROCATION OF THE MASSAGING APPARATUS IN A THERAPEUTIC MANIPULATING MACHINE The manipulating and massaging apparatus of a therapeutic manipulating machine for the human body extends into a longitudinal opening in the table whereon a patient lies. In operation, this manipulating and massaging apparatus moves back and forth in this opening to contact the patient's body at predetermined pressures. This reciprocable movement may be substantially the length of the opening to permit the manipulating and massaging to extend from a patient's hips to his shoulders. A lesser reciprocable movement, which is a selected increment within this overall range of movement, is effected by adjustable stops for the manipulating and massaging apparatus which act against limit switches carried by the reciprocating manipulating and massaging apparatus. When the limit switch on the apparatus contacts a stop, the drive of the apparatus reverses, to reverse its movement.
