Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a method and apparatus for automatic detection of anatomical sites from tomographic images. The method includes: receiving 3D images obtained by a CT or an MRI system, transforming the images to the DICOM standard patient-based coordinate system, pre-processing the images to have normalized intensity values based on their modality, performing body segmentation, cropping the images to remove excess areas outside the body, and detecting different anatomical sites including head and neck, thorax, abdomen, male pelvis and female pelvis, wherein the step of detecting different anatomical sites comprises: performing slice-level analyses on 2D axial slices to detect the head and neck region using dimensional measurement thresholds based on human anatomy, calculating lung ratios on axial slices to find if lungs are present, determining whether 3D images with lungs present span over the thoracic region, abdomen region, or both, conducting 2D connectivity analyses on axial slices to detect the pelvis region if two separate leg regions are found and differentiating detected pelvis regions as either male pelvis or female pelvis regions based on human anatomy.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a method and apparatus for training a convolutional neural network (CNN) that is robust to missing input information. The method includes: receiving multiple three-dimensional (3D) images per case obtained by different imaging systems such as computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance (MR), and positron emission tomography (PET); processing the 3D images to fuse the information from multiple imaging modalities; building a deep learning framework using CNNs for image segmentation; adapting the deep learning framework to handle either a single missing input modality or multiple modalities by emulating missing modalities in training; post-processing the output from the deep learning framework to obtain the final segmentation.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a method and apparatus to improve model-based organ segmentation with image post-processing using one or more processors. The method includes: receiving three-dimensional (3D) voxel-by-voxel segmentation results as the output of a segmentation model based on 3D computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance (MR) images; analyzing the segmentation results on a 3D basis; processing the results to identify regions with anatomically incorrect segmentations; fixing the incorrect segmentations; analyzing the remaining segmentation results on a slice-by-slice basis; processing the results to identify slices with anatomically incorrect segmentations; fixing the incorrect segmentations to obtain the final results.
Abstract:
A system includes a base station, a number of electronic devices, and a server. The base station radiates wireless signal including a base station identifier for identifying the base station and an authorization code for setting authorization level for a function of the electronic device. The electronic device detects the wireless signal, determines the existence of a predetermined base station according to the base station identifier, analyzes the authorization code to determine the function and authorization represented by the authorization code, disables the determined function, receives user information in response to an authorization input, transmits the received user information to the server to retrieve the pre-set authorization level of the user of the electronic device, and enables the function in response to the authorization represented by the authorization code being equal or lower than the retrieved pre-set authorization level.
Abstract:
A method of comparing a secondary oil recovery process with a tertiary oil recovery process, the secondary oil recovery process and the tertiary oil recovery process being applied to a substantially fluid-saturated porous medium containing an oil phase and an aqueous phase, the method comprising using relaxation time measurements in the calculation of a wettability index modification factor for the oil phase or the aqueous phase, thereby comparing the tertiary oil recovery process with the secondary oil recovery process.
Abstract:
A system and method of adapting a radiation therapy treatment plan for a patient by varying the fraction size delivered to the patient on any individual day, based at least partially on the use of daily patient registration (i.e., taking images of the patient before each fraction is delivered to see the position and size of the tumor on that day). The fraction size can be dynamically altered based upon the biology of the tumor.
Abstract:
A battery cover latch mechanism (10) used in portable electronic device (100) is described including a cover member (113), a housing member (111), a latch member (1137), a pressing member (15), and a releasing member (17). The latch member is used to latch the cover member to the housing member. The releasing member can be elastic deformed such that the pressing member moves and deforms the releasing member to release the cover member from the housing member.
Abstract:

Abstract:
A rear-wheel skating shoe provides an enhanced shoe stand with a single fulcrum for a wheel axle to make the structure at positions between a sidewall and a wheel axle and between a sidewall and a bottom plate of the shoe stand stronger to facilitate exposing luminous wheels and protect a user's safety effectively. The shoe includes a left shoe stand, a right shoe stand, a metal screw rod at external sidewalls of the shoe stands, a luminous wheel on the metal screw rod, a left reinforced stand in a sidewall of the left shoe stand, a right reinforced stand in a sidewall of the right shoe stand, and a reinforced plate at the bottom of the bottom plate of the shoe stand and connected to the right reinforced stand. The metal reinforced elements of the skating shoe give a strong structure, and the luminous wheels provide a color effect.
