Abstract:
The faceplate (18) of a square-planar picture tube (10) is relatively flat, with a curvature along the major axis and lines parallel thereto that is generally greater near the left and right edges than in the center. An LC tuned circuit (60), coupled to the deflection winding (LH), has a resonant period of oscillation approximately half that of the line trace interval. The tuned circuit (60) introduces an oscillatory correction component into the trace current that provides additional S-shaping in that portion of the line scan intermediate the center and the left or right edge.
Abstract:
Signal separation arrangements for separating frequency interleavd signal components of a video signal one of which is modulated as a double sideband modulated component of a subcarrier frequency. A video signal is sampled by a digital-to-analog converter (10). The resultant signal samples are applied to a bandpass filter (12). The bandpass filter produces a filtered signal restricted to a given passband of the original video band over which the double-sideband-modulated component is modulated. The filtered information in the passband is comb-filtered by a comb filter (20) operating on selected ones of the bandpass-filtered samples in response to a subsampling clock signal. The subsampling clock frequency is less than or equal to the subcarrier frequency. The comb filter comprises a shift register (22) and a signal combining circuit (24). Comb-filtered samples, produced at the subsampling clock rate, correspond to one of the interleaved signal components.
Abstract:
An automatic color control (ACC 90) for a digital television receiver is compatible with and is unaffected by variation of the phase of the color subcarrier signal introduced in demodulating the color subcarrier to effect control of tint. ACC (90) is effectuated by digital gain control for scaling the digital words representing the sampled magnitudes of the color subcarrier burst signals. Quadrature demodulation (30, 32) of the color subcarrier produces color signal digital words I and Q which are each sampled and latched (36, 42) during the color subcarrier burst. The sampled digital words are each squared (38, 44) and are then summed (46) together. The summed digital word is compared (48) to a chroma reference digital word and the difference digital word is employed to scale the color subcarrier digital words.
Abstract:
A method and system for use with or in a satellite (S) for compensating for cross coupling of satellite feeder link signals from a first channel (WV) of a first linear polarization (vertical) as received by a first linearly polarized satellite antenna element (11) with adjacent signals from a second channel (LH or UH). The second channel signals are at a generally orthogonal linear polarization. The system includes a second linearly polarized antenna element (13) oriented orthogonal to the first antenna element (11) for sensing the second channel signal, a gain controlled amplifier (41 or 55) for reducing the gain of the second channel signals received at the second antenna element (13) in inverse proportion to the sensed amount of cross coupling (depolarization), an inverter (43 or 43a) for inverting the reduced gain signals and a summer (35) for summing the inverted, reduced gain signals with the first channel signals from said first antenna element (11).
Abstract:
Computer main memory is used for storing relatively densely sampled wideband video information concerning a television display and for storing relatively sparsely sampled narrowband video information concerning the same television display. The relatively densly sampled wideband video information is read out in substantially real time from computer main memory during line trace intervals in the television display. The relatively sparsely sampled narrowband video information is read out of computer main memory in advanced and compressed time during selected line retrace intervals in the television display. The wideband video information may be luminance information; and the narrowband video information chrominance information.
Abstract:
The invention reduces storage capacity required by one dimensional digital filter/decimator (300, 302) and/or expander/interpolation filter (400, 402) used for spatially filtering that given dimension of a scanned two-dimensional image, orthogonal to raster scan lines. Such filter devices are particularly suitable for use in Burt Pyramid image processing systems.
Abstract:
A signal separation system operating at a reduced data rate, which requires comparably fewer storage locations than previous arrangements. Such a signal separation system, for use in a television receiver, separates two sampled data video signal components which are interleaved in frequency. This system comprises means (12) for passing the sampled data video signals at a data rate less than the original sampling rate. A comb filter (20) is responsive to the reduced sample rate signal, and produces the comb-filtered output signal.
